House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that President Trump agreed to sign into law a measure shielding young undocumented immigrants from deportation if it's passed by lawmakers.
"We made it very clear in the course of the conversation that the priority was to pass the DREAM Act, that we wanted to do it in obviously it has to be bipartisan," Pelosi told reporters. "The president said he would he supports that. He would sign it."
Pelosi said she spoke to Trump on the phone Thursday morning, and during the call asked him to tweet a reassurance to young undocumented immigrants brought to the country illegally as children that they would not be deported in the next six months.
Soon after, the president tweeted that DACA recipients have "nothing to worry about."

Senate GOP whip: No vote on standalone bill for 'Dreamers'
BY ALEXANDER BOLTON - 09/07/17 12:08 PM EDT
Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (Texas) on Thursday quickly threw cold water on efforts by Democrats to persuade President Trump to support a stand-alone bill to protect an estimated 800,000 people from deportation.
Shortly after Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) spoke with Trump Thursday morning about moving the Dream Act, which would lift the threat of deportation from people who came to the country illegally as children, Cornyn said the legislation would not come to the floor in its current form.
The minority leader doesnt set the Senate schedule and the Dream Act were not going to vote on the Dream Act as a standalone, Cornyn told reporters.
He said that its unreasonable to expect GOP leaders to move a bill that conservative critics such as Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) call amnesty after Democrats were unable to pass such a bill when they controlled the White House and Congress.
