Dems call on Trump to prioritize relief efforts on two Puerto Rican islands

A group of 16 Democratic senators is calling on President Trump to send aid and relief to two Puerto Rican islands that were devastated by two hurricanes last month.
In a letter on Wednesday, the senators asked Trump to send relief to Vieques and Cuelbra and provide the two islands with “higher priority” in the wake of the two storms.
"The residents of Vieques and Culebra are U.S. citizens, and no fellow citizen should be left ‘clamoring for help,'" the lawmakers wrote. "They need help now, and we urge that you provide them with sufficient aid and assistance without further delay." Sixteen senators in total signed the letter, including .
The letter, which was signed by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), said the state of the populations on the two islands is “profoundly worrying.” The senators note a report that said Vieques has been without power and water for more than a week.
