HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (AP) Police say a man killed his girlfriend's 17-month-old son and stole her car stereo and laptop while she was in the hospital with her dying child.
The Bradenton Herald reports that 31-year-old David Vickers is being held without bail on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
Authorities say Vickers was taking care of Luca Sholey while the child's mother was at work. Vickers claims he put the boy to bed and found him unresponsive when he checked on him an hour later.
An autopsy determined Sholey's death to be from blunt-force trauma to his brain. The toddler also had bruises on his chest and six broken ribs.

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't let someone who looks like that sit with a potted plant.

No Regrets for Man With Romney Tattoo on His Face
November 13, 2012
By JILIAN FAMA via GOOD MORNING AMERICA, NIGHTLINE, WORLD NEWS
Campaign season is over, and it seems as if the biting battle between presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney has faded away. But not for everyone. Eric Hartsburg, who got the Romney 'R' logo tattooed on his face for an eBay bid of $15,000 , will have a constant reminder of his losing candidate probably for the rest of his life.
But Hartsburg said that's fine with him.
"I am college educated, and I am not an idiot," Hartsburg, a professional wrestler, told ABC News. "Getting the tattoo was a decision that I made, and I am cool with."
When asked how he felt about having a losing candidate's logo permanently stamped near his right temple, Hartsburg said, joking, "Wait, did the election already happen? Did Romney lose?"
Hartsburg, 30, who got the tattoo after auctioning off the prime real estate on his face, said, "Of course I am disappointed about the election results. I wanted Romney to win, obviously, but I am proud of the voters and the record turnout in certain places. And most of all, I am proud of the effort that I made."
