Sure, all of the people charged so far worked for the campaign and had secret dealings with Russia but these two things are unrelated. From what fox news is saying that is just about manafort not paying sales tax on a pack of gum in 1994.

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying, and the lies were about Russia. He attempted to meet with Putin.

Flynn was shopping a plea deal months ago and got a cool response. It may be that they want to really put the screws on him to ensure that he really tells everything, ... and then some more.

From what I read about Mueller, he is not new at this. He has been in the business of catching bad guys, getting them to confess, and sending them to jail for many years. Part of the deal I guess, (I don't know much about it)..is getting one bad guy to squeal on another bad guy. Often they get one to squeal on another who might be higher up in the organization. Then, the good guys go after that guy, to squeal on the next one further up and so on. That idea is not new either. So we are seeing the progression. I sure hope the good guys get all the bad guys....including the ones further up the ladder, and at the top, no matter who they are

29. Interesting detail from the government documents on this
Mon Oct 30, 2017, 02:07 PM
Oct 2017

This was mentioned in 538's live chat on the matter

There are also some small details in the charge that come into brighter focus in the context of other reporting on Papadopoulos. One breadcrumb stands out:

In May 2016, Papadopoulos emailed a “high-ranking campaign official” (Manafort) writing: “Russia has been eager to meet Mr. Trump for quite sometime and has been reaching out to me to discuss.” In a footnote, the government added that the campaign official forwarded the email to another official (Rick Gates, without cc’ing Papadopoulos) and added, “Let[‘]s discuss. We need someone to communicate that DT is not doing these trips. It should be someone low level in the campaign so as not to send any signal.”

It’s not clear what “someone low level” was meant to do. It could simply be that the person was being delegated to give Papadopoulos the brush-off. But the fact that the other two people on the email thread were also indicted today — and that Papadopoulos is now in a position to explain the context of all of the exchanges cited in the charge to Mueller’s team — isn’t good news for Trump or the people in his orbit.
