Ryan feels 'very good' about passing tax bill by Thanksgiving

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 11/05/17 09:02 AM EST

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) in a Sunday show interview expressed confidence that House Republicans will pass their tax reform legislation by Thanksgiving.

“I feel very good about it. I think our members are very excited about this. We’re pleased with what we’ve rolled out, and this is what we said we would do when we ran for office in 2016,” Ryan told “Fox News Sunday” when asked about the deadline.

The bill, unveiled last week, is expected to pass the House, but may face an uphill battle in the Senate, which repeatedly failed to repeal and replace ObamaCare earlier this year despite legislation passing in the lower chamber. Ryan in his interview with Chris Wallace said Republicans, having learned from the failed health care push, emphasized a “coordinated” effort on tax reform.

“The lesson learned was, ah, coordinate with the Senate and then move together,” Ryan said.

Ryan on DNC revelations: I understand why Democrats would be 'ticked off'

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 11/05/17 09:12 AM EST

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) in an interview early Sunday said he empathized with Democrats over the recent revelations in former Democratic National Committee (DNC) interim chair Donna Brazile's new book, saying he would be "ticked off" as well.

"To see such a deck stacked is really pretty jaw-dropping to me. No wonder the Democrats are ticked off. I would be, too," Ryan told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."

"It’s amazing to me how the Clintons, just lived above the law or above the rules in this thing. I understand why Democrats are mad about this. They should be mad about this, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this, frankly," he continued.

"I’ve never seen anything like that. I mean, we all said that the Clintons thought they lived above the rules, but this takes the cake. I mean this is pretty amazing. For them to basically be running the DNC in a primary," he said.

From the Obamacare push, they should have learned to not say they "feel good about it". They're always so confident but have no reason to be.

The Senate has scheduled 9 days. Any bets that can sort things out in less than two business weeks?

And their "budget" is just another attempt to achieve that goal.
