U.S. attorney general due to face Democrats' Russia questions next week

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is due to testify before a congressional committee next week, three sources familiar with the matter said on Monday, offering Democrats a chance to question him about his past statements on President Donald Trumps campaign exchanges with Russian intermediaries.
Sessions testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, which has not been publicly announced, was confirmed by a Justice Department spokesman and two congressional aides.
The open hearing, tentatively scheduled for Nov. 14, is part of the committees regular oversight of the Justice Department, but Russia appears almost certain to be a topic.
Separately, Sessions is due to appear in a closed session before the House Intelligence Committee on Nov. 14, a source familiar with that panels plans said.

(19,204 posts)He'll have Trump's loyal lap-dog - old Beau - spinning around in circles, chasing his tail. Sessions won't know whether to shit or go blind when Franken is through with him. Al's just a little pissed at old Beau for lying his ass off the last time the Senators questioned him. I wouldn't want to be in Sessions' doggie paws when Al gets through with him.

(19,204 posts)I was hoping it was the Senate, but the Senate will get their chance, and Franken is going to bring Sessions to tears. He'll make Sessions feel so low he'll be able to pull his socks up over his head.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee next Tuesday as part of its probe into Russian interference in the election, The Hill confirmed on Tuesday.
Sessions's appearance will allow Democrats on the panel to pepper the top U.S. law enforcement officials about his past statements concerning exchanges with Russian agents during the time he served the Trump campaign last year.
