GOP senator: Moore denial not as strong as the allegations

Republican Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) said in a Sunday show interview that the denial from Alabama Senate nominee Roy Moore (R) about the sexual misconduct allegations levied against him was not as strong as the accusations unveiled last week.
The denial was not as strong as the allegations, Scott told CBSs Face the Nation.
Scott noted that the accusations reported last week by The Washington Post were very strong. Moore and his campaign have denied accusations that in 1979, when he was 32, he had sexual contact with a 14-year old girl.
The Washington Post in its story also included accounts from three women who said Moore attempted to court them in the same time frame, when they were between 16 and 18 years old. Moore denied that there was inappropriate conduct in those cases and said although he did not specifically remember dating teenage girls, it could have happened.

GOP senator: Moore allegations more credible than his denial
BY BRETT SAMUELS - 11/12/17 10:48 AM EST
Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Penn.) said Sunday that the allegations of sexual impropriety against Roy Moore seem to be stronger than the Republican Alabama Senate candidate's denials.
Well probably never know for sure exactly what happened. But from my point of view, you know, I have to say I think the accusations have more credibility than the denial. I think it would be best if Roy would just step aside, Toomey said on NBCs Meet The Press."
A 53-year-old woman accused Moore of initiating sexual contact with her when she was 14 and he was 32, The Washington Post reported. Three other women also said Moore approached them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18.
Moore has denied the allegations, saying they are completely false, and suggesting it is a smear campaign.

(23,123 posts)He said he didn't remember, but that it wasn't his customary habit. No denial at all. He also said he didn't "generally" try to date teens, again no denial. He also said other evidence is coming out, and 4 people have backed his victim. Is this what he's talking about or is there more? One of his colleagues has said that people who worked with him then thought he was very strange for always pursuing teens. He even went to football games to pick up teenage girls and talked about meeting them around the corners from their houses to hide from their parents Is there even more to come?
I used to defend christians to my gay son, as my mom and dad were evangelicals who walked the talk. Not any more, I have realized that most Evangelicals truly hate LGBT folks, women and other races and do not have love in their hearts for others, only for their rw tribe. Their support for Drumpf has proven their total hypocrisy and lack of following Jesus at all. Still blows my mind that they support the most criminal, immoral, lying, fraud, misogynist, racist and traitor to ever come along in politics - ever! Now they are actually supporting a child molester! Unbelievable in any sane world!

(38,436 posts)So, one senator says implies that the "allegations" are more (my words ) "honest" than Mr. Moore's denial. The senator did not say Moore was lying, just that the allegations sounded "stronger" than the denial.
"stronger"..???

(321 posts)Republicans continue to participate in their own selective outrage. If the allegations against Moore happened to a Democrat, they would be all over it. It's pretty shameful, but also painfully obvious.
