White House adviser and President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, was quoted Wednesday as saying she believed the women accusing Roy Moore of pursuing relationships, including sexual ones, with them as teenagers.

“There’s a special place in hell for people who prey on children,” she told the Associated Press. “I’ve yet to see a valid explanation and I have no reason to doubt the victims’ accounts.”

The Washington Post reported last Thursday on four women who accused Moore, on the record, of pursuing relationships with them when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s. One woman, Leigh Corfman, said Moore tried to initiate sexual contact with her when she was 14.

On Monday, Beverly Young Nelson accused Moore of attempting to rape her when she was 16 years old. At a press conference, she showed what appeared to be Moore’s signature in her high school yearbook. “Love, Roy Moore D.A.,” he apparently wrote. Moore later claimed not to know Nelson. Moore has denied the allegations against him.

....but she may be speaking from experience.

I don’t say this lightly. I was abused by my own father from age 7 until he died when I was 17.

It was in the 70s and he was considered an upright and “Christian” man. Everyone loved him. But he was a pedophile. He abused all of his children. Three girls and one boy. Probably countless others.

It’s taken many, many years of therapy to get to the point that all of these allegations of sexual assault and abuse no longer triggers me. I am finally at peace with my own history. But forgiveness will never come. Especially for my mother, who I have no doubt knew it was going on, but too afraid to do anything about it. Or simply didn’t care because then he left her alone.

But it still pisses me the hell off that it is as pervasive today as it has always been. It’s about damn time that people are finally speaking out. Even if it was 40 years ago.

36. It took a long time to gain some peace.

I know that people make fun of celebrities going to the Meadows in Arizona. But, to be honest, I spent 5 weeks there about 4 years ago for PTSD. They don’t just treat sex addicts. They treat a multitude of addictions as well as people who suffer depression as a result of PTSD and sexual abuse. That is what I was there for.

It is an amazing place and the media treats it like a spa. I can tell you....it ain’t no spa. It is a rigid program. Your day is filled from 6am until 9pm. You do get breaks to relax and the pool is nowhere near Olympic sized. Women and men have separate times to spend about 45 minutes each.

In the beginning, I hated going there, but I was suicidal. But at the end of the 5 weeks, I dreaded leaving. It was a safe place. And I learned how to become strong....which is an ongoing process that 5 weeks doesn’t quite do the job. But I learned coping skills. And I continued private therapy sessions afterward.

But privilege people don’t do well there. You have to deal with roommates in small quarters. The cafeteria doesn’t even come close to most college cafeterias. No caffeine, no sugar. It isn’t the comfy cozy place the press makes it out to be.

The media touts that Tiger Woods went there. He stayed for less than a week because he wasn’t givien special treatment. They don’t suffer fools or celebrities there.

It helped me a lot. So I would appeal to you all to not judge harshly when you hear about the Meadows. They truly do good work there.
