Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who's facing a series of sexual misconduct allegations, ripped Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday for his response to allegations that Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) groped a woman without her consent.

McConnell called for a Senate Ethics Committee investigation into Franken after TV host and sports broadcaster Leeann Tweeden on Thursday accused Franken of kissing her and groping her without her consent in 2006.
Tweeden also shared a photo of Franken appearing to grab at her chest while she was sleeping on a flight back to the U.S.
In Moores case, in which the GOP Senate candidate has been accused of sexual misconduct toward teenage girls, McConnell and numerous other lawmakers have called on the Alabama candidate to drop out of the race.

(40,219 posts)She was on television a few minutes ago telling her story and a reporter asked her if she accepted his apology and she said she did. She said that everyone makes mistakes and that she accepts his apology.

(3,283 posts)For a judge, he really doesn't understand how this whole "proof" thing works, does he? And given that he's been removed from the top judicial position in AL twice I suspect he also has trouble understanding the whole "law" and "Constitution" things work, too. Considering that's, like, his only job maybe it's time for him to not be doing that job any more?

(13,582 posts)Im no lawyer, but I have heard a few experts say that the Senate has the power to begin investigations of any candidate prior to them being seated in the Senate.
I could be wrong...
Mr.Bill
(24,317 posts)But there's no time to investigate Moore before the election. Not properly, anyway.
BlueIdaho
(13,582 posts)But the investigation could be started now and finished, assuming he wins. If he loses, hes just another citizen - then the Senate has no jurisdiction.
I guess my only point is why wait?

(13,582 posts)I have confidence in Senator Franken. The only evidence is an obviously staged photo which shows a lack of judgement and a really bad comedic moment for which he has apologized.
In the case of Moore, we have multiple testimonies about his continued serial molestation of teenagers.
If they are both proven to be guilty, let them both pay the price.

(410 posts)they were both adults of consenting age.
I am not condoning Franken's actions.
I also believe 18 is the minimum age of consent.

(23,147 posts)He suckered young teens into his car and attempted forcible sex. Al franken took a bad photo. See, one is depraved, nasty, dirty, vile and hypocritical while the other is rather clueless. Al also apologized while mr. nasty wrinkly just lies and lies and smears more lies about these brave women, who by the way all voted for drumpf. Al's accuser is a trumper, so totally suspect for motive and truthfulness.
Total and epic fail of rw'ers to try and say Moore is equivalent to Franken.
