After meeting Trump, Susan Collins hints at support for GOP tax cut plan
Source: Bangor Daily News
AUGUSTA, Maine U.S. Sen. Susan Collins emerged from a meeting with President Donald Trump on Tuesday to tell reporters in Washington, D.C., that shes leaning toward voting for fellow Senate Republicans proposal to overhaul the federal tax system.
The plan passed the Senates budget committee in a party-line vote on Tuesday and it will have to be reconciled with another plan in the House of Representatives before becoming law.
Collins support may hinge on a balancing act around health care policy. Her concerns have centered on the Senate tax bills repeal of the individual mandate the part of the Affordable Care Act that makes people purchase health insurance or face a penalty. However, The Washington Examiner said on Tuesday that Trump promised to back bills stabilizing the health care law if the tax bill passes.
One would be a Collins-sponsored bill to give $2.25 billion annually to states with high-risk pools or reinsurance programs. The other would be a bill backed by Sens. Lamar Alexander, R-Tennessee, and Patty Murray, D-Washington, to reinstate cost-sharing reduction payments halted by Trumps administration in October.

And furthermore, Trump must have grabbed her by the pussy, and perhaps she liked it. . . . .

(138 posts)What a downer for the holidays. I guess I will be able to save a lot of money because no one in my family feels like spending anything other than time with each other or time in the streets protesting.
If we don't hit the streets in protest, is there a chance of most shoppers not spending this Christmas to send a message to Trump and his supporters? Just give gifts to the kids? I know it is hard but so is living under this madman.

(37,648 posts)If she's believing Trump when he says that he will "stabilize the health care law" in the future, she's making a big mistake. Everyone knows that his word is worth nothing. His promises are empty (if he even remembers them). He doesn't follow through, doesn't honor his obligations (he doesn't even pay his bills consistently!). She's making a huge mistake.
I tend to think that maybe a couple of her big donors want her to vote for it. It seems to be a donor thing among the Repubs.
