NEW YORK One of President Donald Trumps top outside economic advisers says the individual side of the GOP tax plan never should have happened and threatens to hurt a lot of different people.
The individual side of this is maybe not the worst thing Ive ever seen, said Larry Kudlow, a prominent economic commentator and former adviser to President Ronald Reagan, in the latest POLITICO Money podcast. But when you end the state and local deduction, because rates are still relatively high, you are going to hurt a lot of different people. So the internal logic was not good and this is not a true tax reform bill.
Kudlow, who helped design the corporate tax cuts that are the centerpiece of the GOP effort, said the rest of the bill will lift growth and fatten paychecks even if it means higher short-term deficits.
The sickest part of our tax system is the business side because of international competitive reasons and because of Americas prohibitively high tax rates, he said. Profits have been coming in rather well over the last 10 years. But the money is going offshore and thats really hurt not only investment, its also hurt wages.

(92,190 posts)large blue states the worst.
There was talk that it would eliminate parts of mortgage interest deduction, and I think property taxes, again hurting those in large blue states the worst.
I don't recall a more vindictive administration since I have been voting years ago.

(262 posts)This is the same asshole that pushed the Reagan TRICKLE DOWN shit which BTW we are still suffering from! Republiocns think that when they say "Hey your gonna get a great deal with this TAX REFORM" well, if you believe them I'll sell you the Brooklyn Bridge real cheap!! These cheats and liars are damaging every thing the country stands for!! We got to stop them from doing more harm by getting Mueller on the stick and getting impeachment going. That's the only way I see to stop this FASCIST ass Trump from doing any more to our country. McConnell and Ryan aren't going to lift a finger to stop this guy cause they will get their due from the likes of the Kochs and Adelson's and the Mercer's. Get involved and help turn back this wave of destruction!!

(65,042 posts)When was that? It was certainly not in the 80's or 90's. I wrote papers in econometrics in the 90's that i am absolutely certain he would not comprehend, and that was early 90's.
He's barely(!) a two dimensional thinker. He's never been smart, and never will be.
As soon as read who made these comments, i knew it was going to be utter nonsense.
And, i still don't believe most people are going to see a dime in tax reduction, until they are actually MAKING (not net worth) 7 figures per year.
