Murkowski will vote for tax bill

Source: the hill

By Mallory Shelbourne - 11/29/17 02:54 PM EST

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), a key vote for Senate Republicans in their pursuit of tax reform, will vote for the tax legislation, according to a reporter with MSNBC.

..................

Two lawmakers, Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.), have come out against the bill, meaning Vice President Pence would need to break a tie should all other Republican senators support the legislation and all members of the Democratic caucus vote no.

Johnson has said he is “encouraged” by discussions on the bill, while an aide for Daines previously told The Hill that the senator is “optimistic” about changes to the legislation. Johnson did vote to advance the bill out of the Senate Budget Committee...............

R defence? Buying insurance is a choice and now folks will have more tax cut money, paltry by the way and expiring in 10years, this money will cover it. Ignoring the CBO increased premiums part.

Still plenty of Senators on the fence or opposed and maybe more as Trumpsy gave off even more sulphurous fumes today.

At least Alaska residents might get some $$$ from destroying their environment by opening up ANWR to make up for the lack of affordable health insurance and eventual increase in taxes for everyone but the wealthy.
And Murkowski can be assured to receive donor $$$ courtesy of the tax cuts.

29. The Republican tax bill will end cancer treatment for Medicare patients
Wed Nov 29, 2017, 07:43 PM
Nov 2017

The bill also includes tax cuts so large that they would trigger across-the-board spending cuts — including billions for Medicare. The last time Medicare was hit with cuts like this, patients lost access to critical services like chemotherapy treatment.

This tax bill deserves a broader name. Its policies will cause millions of vulnerable Americans to lose coverage, disrupt care for the elderly, and potentially change the health care system in other ways we can’t fully predict.

Sarandon, and Jill Stein, there is a difference between republicans and Democrats, and both Stein and Sarandon will NEVER feel the pain that so many will because of this awful piece of legislation.

The only thing the third party voters have accomplished is giving George W. Bush and trump the opportunity to roll back and destroy any progress that has been made in the last 70 years.

from royalties on mining and drilling, the so-called tax reform wants to let mining and drilling not to pay these to the states. Just wait till the Alaskans don't get their checks next year.

41. Why would anyone think any R would vote against tax cuts
Thu Nov 30, 2017, 01:04 PM
Nov 2017

for the rich? It's their holy grail and has been for decades. Rs defecting was just never going to happen.

I suppose it's possible that if there are any senators, say Corker and Flake, who are opposed to the bill, they might find 2 or more who also object, but don't want to be the one who "kills" tax cuts, those senators might form a bloc and jointly announce their opposition so as to avoid being singled out.

One positive is that the bill will have to go to conference committee which could give people time to start organizing bigger protests and for a few ads to be run against the bill.

Another positive is that most of the stuff doesn't kick in until 2019 by which time all the details of the bill will be out and the Rs won't be in control of either branch of Congress.
