WASHINGTON Since it first emerged that Michael T. Flynn had repeated phone conversations last December with Russias ambassador to the United States, one of the most significant unanswered questions has been what transition team officials and Donald J. Trump, then the president-elect, knew about the calls.
The documents made public on Friday show that the transition team knew that Mr. Flynn was going to be discussing sanctions with the then ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak, and raise new questions about what President-elect Trump knew about the conversations.

(1,823 posts)Now wait just one minute... On 11/14, Sessions revised his prior statements:
I do now recall the meeting where adviser George Papadopoulos made the proposal, Sessions said, but I have no clear recollection of the details of what he said during the meeting.
Sessions has previously told Congress he was unaware of any Trump campaign contacts with Russia, leading Democrats on Tuesday to accuse him of lying under oath.
He was referring to the March 2016 meeting wherein Papadopoulos raised the topicof engaging with Russian contacts:
After that meeting, Sessions said, he did not have any further knowledge of additional contacts between the campaign and Russian officials.
The discussion between Flynn and Kislyak took place on Dec 29th, 2016. Both before and after the call, according to the NY Tmes article linked above, Flynn spoke to a senior official on the Presidential Transition Team at Mar-a-Lago.
Its unknown if Sessions was there for the meeting, but surely, as a member of the Presidential Transistion Team, he had to have been aware of the events of 12/29 ??
