Orrin Hatch: Trump Had No Choice But To Endorse Roy Moore

Source: Talking Points Memo

By NICOLE LAFOND Published DECEMBER 5, 2017 8:36 AM

Calling the allegations against Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore incidents that occurred “decades ago,” Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) told reporters Monday that the President had no choice but to endorse Moore.

“I don’t think he had any choice but to do that,” Hatch told reporters who traveled with President Donald Trump to Utah on Monday, according to Bloomberg. “He needs every Republican he can get so he can put his agenda through. So, that’s the only Republican you can possibly get down there.”

Upon initial news that multiple women had come forward alleging that Moore had pursued relationships or made inappropriate sexual advances toward them when they were teenagers and Moore was in his 30s, Hatch and several Republican leaders in Congress said if the allegations were true, Moore should step aside. Hatch appeared to walk that back on Monday.

“Many of the things he allegedly did are decades ago, so it’s hard to — that’s a decision that has to be made by the people in that state,” he said. “If they make that decision, who are we to question them?”

Orrin Hatch has the right to his own principles. And when he says that a serial rapist like Joseph Smith was anointed by GOD to exert POWER over women for his own sexual gratification, there's a principle he can uphold!

but the concept was that a wife had to agree to a sister wife and his wife DID NOT agree to it, secondly plural marriage was not about giving girls to deserving old goats. It was about keeping family property in the hands of widows and orphans and had very little sex attached to it. At that time women couldn't vote because they couldn't hold property. When husbands died the widows had to move to town and either become shop keepers, run boarding homes or become "entertainers". Some men had wives that they only saw yearly to do banking, selling cattle and produce, paying taxes, etc.

It was a response to laws in Illinois and Missouri that legalized the killing of Mormons that created a lot of widows.

It wasn't until Brigham (Bring'em) Young that the concept got dirty.

Utah was the first or second state to enfranchise women and even Young said he'd educate his daughters before he'd educate his sons if it came to a choice. Mormon women are still among the highest educated group of women in the US. And the LDS makes no bones about it: the mandate for plural marriage is dead and past. It'll get you excommunicated in a heart beat.

Even so, Orin Hatch is a major jerk.

Is Orrin Hatch a secret member of the FDLS(Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)?

So, based on his justification, we should ignore accusations of child molestation, as long as the people of Alabama don't have a problem with it???

Down Syndrome is the most common genetic disorder in the US with 1 in 700 babies being born with it. Advanced maternal and paternal ages, particularly over age 35, are the most correlated factors in the incidence of the disorder which results from a complete or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. More Down Syndrome are born to women under 35 just because of the higher fertility rate. It has nothing to do with "incestuous marriages."

Calling this a "dirty secret" is particularly hateful.

And yes, my daughter has Down Syndrome so I do know what I am talking about.

Let NO PEDOPHILE be denied a seat in the Senate! Let NO Sexual Predator be denied a position in the White House! We need to stand up for the rights of SEXUAL PREDATORS EVERYWHERE!

Here's a resounding "YES" to Orrin Hatch's principle! A sexual predator in every Congressional seat! A rapist in every governor's chair! Let's hear it for the rights of MEN to impose sex upon the weaker and less powerful!

on the basis that if they're old enough to be targets for sex, they're old enough to vote?

What pathetic reasoning:

“Many of the things he allegedly did are decades ago, so it’s hard to — that’s a decision that has to be made by the people in that state,” he said. “If they make that decision, who are we to question them?”

How come they do not take that stance with gay marriage or abortion?

Steaming pile of BS

Their moral compass is beyond broken - it's non existent - they're not even looking for it!

in the Senate. It also deflates Hatch's own moral stature -- after a week when he claimed that he, not Kennedy, "invented" CHIP, that he was now willing to kill. Why? People inheriting multimillion dollar estates should not have any of that very special money taxed. (Yet a single mom working for minimum wage pays FICA taxes on the first dollar she makes.) It is sad that he is willing to kill one of the best things he ever did.
