JERUSALEM (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump informed Palestinian President Mahmolud Abbas on Tuesday that he intends to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, Abbas’s spokesman said.

The statement did not say whether Trump elaborated on the timing of such a move.

“President Mahmoud Abbas received a telephone call from U.S. President Donald Trump in which he notified the President (Abbas) of his intention to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” spokesman Nabil Abu Rdainah said in a statement.

The State Department budget, reduced as it was in the Trump request, would have money that the Secretary of State could use on embassies. (I would assume that the fact that there are so many empty ambassador positions likely imply that they have the money to do on things like this. )

Other reports speak of other things like maybe just saying that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Note here, that he has lots of landmines here - he will not say "West Jerusalem", the area where the Knesset etc not in question -- because of the people on the RW (here and Israel) that go nuts as he is not calling the ENTIRE UNIFIED Jerusalem the capital of Israel. If he makes them happy by saying that the entire city of Jerusalem is the capital of Israel - he will inflame the Arab world and go against the UN resolution.
