Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) on Tuesday said Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) should resign in the wake of allegations the senator groped women without their consent.
From what I know, he should resign. And there will be more of these cases, and we want to make sure that the women feel supported and come forward, Moulton said on Meet The Press Daily.
"We ought to be setting the tone for the country for how women who dont have famous bosses who are not at big news organizations or in politics or in the movie industry can come forward with these issues as well, he added.
A Los Angeles radio host last month said Franken kissed and groped her without her consent during a USO tour in 2006. Other women have since come forward to allege Franken touched them inappropriately during photos ops.

Why we lose the narrative...
Meanwhile, Blake Farenthold settles his sexual harassment suits with taxpayer money and no one says anything.
Republicans, of course, won't criticize him, but Democrats are too busy hanging their own out to dry over bullshit Roger Stone hit jobs to bother with Mr. Ducky Pajamas.
and Moulton's still grumbling about Pelosi and Conyers, even after a resignation happened.
FARENTHOLD IS STILL IN OFFICE, DUMBASS.
Ditto Trump and Clarence Thomas.
Dems make the excuse that only the GOP can call for Farenthold to step down. Funny, Republicans don't hesitate to do that for Dems.
And, naturally, Chuck has yet to ask anyone, of either party, about the Farenthold matter.

(47,520 posts)He is a victim of a right-wing hit job. Republicans fight dirty and have no qualms about ruining a man's career and life for political purposes.

(46,745 posts)to frame this issue. Punishment should fit the crime. If every man were to lose their job for the kind of things that Franken is alleged to have done when he was posing for a camera, the work force would be depleted of men.
We need a litmus test that will stand the test of time. And speaking of time, what took so long for this society to start this dialogue?

(2,275 posts)If acts of sexual abuse are able to be ranked for levels of eggrigiousness on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst, Al Frankens falls at 3. The woman he assaulted was pictured patting one mans butt and dry humping with another man during the same time period. It was a USO tour, which is notoriously sexual in nature. And the photo where Franken is groping her looks staged, with a man sitting beside her on a chair and Al not actually touching her. Als hand accidentally touching someones butt or breast during a photo op is a 1, as its not intentional but may cause discomfort to the recipient.
In comparison, I would rank Matt Lauers rape of a colleague in his office a 10; another 10 is Bill Cosbys drugging and raping women in his home. Any attempted sexual assault or even inappropriate sexual attention given by a 30-plus adult to an underage person is an automatic 10.
George Bushs touching someones butt from his wheelchair merits a 2, as I think he is probably a bit demented, although it may cause discomfort to the recipient.
Donald Trumps assaults rise to the level of 7-8; his targets were unsuspecting and resisted his intrusions, yet he persisted in his attempts to gratify himself at anothers expense. Later, he refused to acknowledge or apologize for his indiscretions.

(33,643 posts)I'm assuming you mean 'any time before the second they turn 18 years old' ... that is tantamount to DRUGGING AND RAPING someone who's of ... any age?
They're both a 10 out of 10?
Let me just say, I ENTIRELY disagree with your rating system.
To be clear, if you'd said 'before they've completed puberty' ... then yeah. Then it's always 'rape', and therefore 10 of 10. That's fair.
But if you are suggesting that a 30 y.o. having entirely consensual (i.e. involving absolutely no form of coercion, be it chemical, monetary, or otherwise) sex with (let alone, giving 'sexual attention to') a young adult who's 1 day below the age of 18 ... and I know it's almost completely unbelievable, but ... it actually DOES happen in the world, from time to time ... is a 10 on a 10 scale in terms of egregiousness ... then ... no offense, but your scale is whack, afaic.
If you honestly think this, then then you're essentially arguing that all my generations musical heroes such as Jagger, Plant, Tyler, Clapton, Daltrey, Page ... most likely ALL OF THEM ... should be in jail for life.
I mean ... what exactly is so magical about the ages of 18, and 30, that automatically turns sexual contact between one person whos a day below the lower end and a day above the upper end ... into THE most horrific form of rape imaginable, in your view?
Because from where I sit, as long as we're not talking about an actual, literal child ... 'consent' is a far, far more important aspect than 'age discrepancy'. And I don't 'get' ... arguing otherwise.

(2,275 posts)I was thinking about creepy Roy Moores past behavior as rising to the level of 10.

He's fairly conservative (not Republican conservative)
He ousted former Rep Tierney.
He ran as an independent

(24,330 posts)He seems to run on himself and his history: former Marine, friend of generals, political outsider, etc
Though in fairness to Moullton, he has called il douche a serial liar, compared him to Hitler and said other uncomplementary things about the orange blunder
Politico did a piece on him

(2,538 posts)Pelosi got Conyers out by going through the CBC and getting Clyburn to take the lead. He was not at all for it when first approached. Now Conyers is out without any charges of racism to complicate an issue that is in the column of sexism. Brilliant, I say. Watch a master and learn a few things Moulton

He wants either the senate seat held by Ed Markey or he wants to be president.
Don't sell him short. He ousted a popular Democratic incumbent in Tierney
There are some within the Democratic Party in Massachusetts who compare him favorably to the late President John Kennedy
