Dem rep Moulton calls on Franken to resign

Last edited Wed Dec 6, 2017, 03:35 AM - Edit history (1)

Source: The Hill

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) on Tuesday said Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) should resign in the wake of allegations the senator groped women without their consent.

From what I know, he should resign. And there will be more of these cases, and we want to make sure that the women feel supported and come forward, Moulton said on Meet The Press Daily.

"We ought to be setting the tone for the country for how women who dont have famous bosses who are not at big news organizations or in politics or in the movie industry can come forward with these issues as well, he added.

A Los Angeles radio host last month said Franken kissed and groped her without her consent during a USO tour in 2006. Other women have since come forward to allege Franken touched them inappropriately during photos ops.

Why we lose the narrative...

Meanwhile, Blake Farenthold settles his sexual harassment suits with taxpayer money and no one says anything.

Republicans, of course, won't criticize him, but Democrats are too busy hanging their own out to dry over bullshit Roger Stone hit jobs to bother with Mr. Ducky Pajamas.

and Moulton's still grumbling about Pelosi and Conyers, even after a resignation happened.
FARENTHOLD IS STILL IN OFFICE, DUMBASS.

Ditto Trump and Clarence Thomas.

Dems make the excuse that only the GOP can call for Farenthold to step down. Funny, Republicans don't hesitate to do that for Dems.

And, naturally, Chuck has yet to ask anyone, of either party, about the Farenthold matter.

to frame this issue. Punishment should fit the crime. If every man were to lose their job for the kind of things that Franken is alleged to have done when he was posing for a camera, the work force would be depleted of men.

We need a litmus test that will stand the test of time. And speaking of time, what took so long for this society to start this dialogue?

If acts of sexual abuse are able to be ranked for levels of eggrigiousness on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst, Al Franken’s falls at 3. The woman he “assaulted” was pictured patting one man’s butt and “dry humping” with another man during the same time period. It was a USO tour, which is notoriously sexual in nature. And the photo where Franken is “groping” her looks staged, with a man sitting beside her on a chair and Al not actually touching her. Al’s hand accidentally touching someone’s butt or breast during a photo op is a 1, as it’s not intentional but may cause discomfort to the recipient.

In comparison, I would rank Matt Lauer’s rape of a colleague in his office a 10; another 10 is Bill Cosby’s drugging and raping women in his home. Any attempted sexual assault or even inappropriate sexual attention given by a 30-plus adult to an underage person is an automatic 10.

George Bush’s touching someone’s butt from his wheelchair merits a 2, as I think he is probably a bit demented, although it may cause discomfort to the recipient.

Donald Trump’s assaults rise to the level of 7-8; his targets were unsuspecting and resisted his intrusions, yet he persisted in his attempts to gratify himself at another’s expense. Later, he refused to acknowledge or apologize for his indiscretions.

20. Srsly? 'Inappropriate sexual attention' given by a 30+ year old adult to any 'underage' person ...
Wed Dec 6, 2017, 06:55 AM
Dec 2017

I'm assuming you mean 'any time before the second they turn 18 years old' ... that is tantamount to DRUGGING AND RAPING someone who's of ... any age?

They're both a 10 out of 10?

Let me just say, I ENTIRELY disagree with your rating system.

To be clear, if you'd said 'before they've completed puberty' ... then yeah. Then it's always 'rape', and therefore 10 of 10. That's fair.

But if you are suggesting that a 30 y.o. having entirely consensual (i.e. involving absolutely no form of coercion, be it chemical, monetary, or otherwise) sex with (let alone, giving 'sexual attention to') a young adult who's 1 day below the age of 18 ... and I know it's almost completely unbelievable, but ... it actually DOES happen in the world, from time to time ... is a 10 on a 10 scale in terms of egregiousness ... then ... no offense, but your scale is whack, afaic.

If you honestly think this, then then you're essentially arguing that all my generations musical heroes such as Jagger, Plant, Tyler, Clapton, Daltrey, Page ... most likely ALL OF THEM ... should be in jail for life.

I mean ... what exactly is so magical about the ages of 18, and 30, that automatically turns sexual contact between one person whos a day below the lower end and a day above the upper end ... into THE most horrific form of rape imaginable, in your view?

Because from where I sit, as long as we're not talking about an actual, literal child ... 'consent' is a far, far more important aspect than 'age discrepancy'. And I don't 'get' ... arguing otherwise.

Every politician, of course, has enemies. But it’s Moulton’s allies who make him atypical—military leaders like David Petraeus and Stanley McChrystal, experienced political minds like David Gergen. These people look at Moulton and see the face of the future of the Democratic Party

I must say that is a stellar cheering section...

Pelosi got Conyers out by going through the CBC and getting Clyburn to take the lead. He was not at all for it when first approached. Now Conyers is out without any charges of racism to complicate an issue that is in the column of sexism. Brilliant, I say. Watch a master and learn a few things Moulton

He wants either the senate seat held by Ed Markey or he wants to be president.
Don't sell him short. He ousted a popular Democratic incumbent in Tierney
There are some within the Democratic Party in Massachusetts who compare him favorably to the late President John Kennedy
