Beyonce surprises, presents Colin Kaepernick with Muhammad Ali Legacy Award

Source: USA Today

NEW YORK — Once again, Colin Kaepernick was the story of the night. But this time, he had a little help from a friend.

Beyonce made a surprise appearance to honor Kaepernick with the Muhammad Ali Legacy Award during the 2017 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards.

Introduced by Daily Show host Trevor Noah as "a friend who admired Colin Kaepernick so much she asked me to sneak her in," the artist praised the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback for his courage to open what she called an important conversation about race in America.

"Thank you, Colin Kaepernick," the 22-time Grammy winner said. "Thank you for your selfless heart. And your conviction. Thank you for your personal sacrifice. Colin took action with no fear of consequences or repercussions, only hope to change the world for the better."

Kap is a larger than life American hero. A man who single handily changed the NFL and American culture.
He exposed the NFL owners as modern day slave traders and the NFL fans as nothing more than rascist bigots.

This man knelt in support of his fellow citizens, and their treatment. He has paid an enormous price for his bravery. I wish a team would give him a chance. He has not beaten any women, he has not molested any children, yet he is treated like a pariah for demonstrating his support for others. The gop is supporting a cretin who is a child molester. He will take a job that pays very well, get a pension and healthcare the rest of us can only dream about. Yet here is Colin, ostracized for WHAT???

many players have already said the same. LeSean McCoy probably the most well known.
He started out with a flash, but as usually happens in the NFL, defensive coaches figure these new guys out. He wasn't good enough to take the heat signing him. Sports fans are fickle; believe me if the Giants thought he could bring them a title they'd sign him.
The same thing happened with Dak Prescott of the Cowboys; he was on fire but then all of a sudden, he's not nearly the factor he used to be. They figured him out. Johhny Manziel was NEVER going to make it in the NFL because his style of play was easily countered by NFL speed.

I wouldn't want my team to sign him either, because he's just not that great. he's not worth the distraction for the rest of the team.

But the stats don’t back up your assertion.

Statistically, he’s better than most, if not all of the backups now on rosters. He was no “flash in the pan”, just a victim of a very bad team whose management fired/forced out a winning coach and has since deteriorated as a team.
Johnny Manzel, does not apply here; everyone knew about his size deficiency, limited arm and private issues but drafted him anyway, albeit in a later pick. But remember, these are the same people who not only drafted Tim Tebow but tried to tout him as something he was not; an NFL QB, his Heisman notwithstanding.
The bottom line; there’s no valid reason for Kaepernick to not be on an NFL roster anywhere.

He's not nearly a Brady, Ryan or Russell Wilson. A team is a business, and the business is winning. When other players say he'd be a distraction, and many have, you don't bring a problem into the locker room. The last thing a team with problems needs is a media circus.
And plenty of good QBs have been unnoticed until they caught a break. Look at the Vikings today. Brady was a backup until an injury. Many other examples.
After this season is over it'll likely all go away anyway. New draft, new QBs & trades. the non-voter can go on a book tour.
