Republican senator says Roy Moore shouldn't undergo 'trial by newspaper'

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 12/07/17 10:35 AM EST

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) on Thursday blasted the notion of "trial by newspaper" for individuals facing allegations of sexual misconduct, saying that such cases should be decided on their merits.

But he also said that women should feel that they are able to safely and fairly report sexual harassment and assault, adding that such behavior has "no place in our society or in the workplace."

"I think it's important that any woman feels that she can make a complaint if she's been subjected to sexual harassment or sexual assault, that have no place in our society or in the workplace," he told The Associated Press in an interview streamed on Facebook Live.

"Each case has to be evaluated on the merits of course," he added. "We shouldn't have trial by newspaper."

So I can't put these two threads next to each other. How unfortunate.

They have an iron grip on the media and they're currently drunk with power. They need to be kicked in the ass hard.

That is why Allred asked him to testify in a hearing, he refuses. Franken asked for a hearing and has been refused, calling for his head on a platter.

This is why Democrats are perceived as weak. Any claim immediately triggers a call for a resignation, no matter how suspect that claim might be.

For Gods sake, it was common knowledge in the town where Moore lived. He was known to stalk and harass teens at the Mall. Even a police office confirmed this. This does not compare to Franken.
