Conservative group seeks removal of judge from case targeting Mueller, citing political bias

Source: The Hill

BY MORGAN CHALFANT - 12/08/17 12:51 PM EST

Conservative group FreedomWorks is arguing for the dismissal of the judge presiding over its lawsuit seeking the removal of Robert Mueller from the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the election, citing her political bias toward Democrats.

The group, helmed by conservative lawyer Larry Klayman, also alleges that the judge has a “manifest conflict of interest” in the case because she is also presiding over the trial of Paul Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chair who has been charged in connection with Mueller’s investigation.

FreedomWorks in November sued to force the Justice Department to investigate leaks coming from the special counsel and alleged conflicts of interest among staff, arguing that Mueller should be removed from the case. In a new motion filed in U.S. district court in Washington, the conservative group argues that Judge Amy Berman Jackson should recuse herself or be disqualified from the case, citing her “inherent manifest political biases and conflicts of interest.”

In particular, Klayman argues that Jackson exhibited a “deep-seated favoritism toward Democrat political interests” and Hillary Clinton, Trump’s Democratic opponent, when she dismissed a case he litigated on behalf of the parents of two Americans killed in the 2012 Benghazi terror attacks.

Oh, we can only have conservative judges because that wouldn't be a conflict, they'd side with the criminals, so MUST be put in charge!

Conservative legal activist Larry Klayman is petitioning President Trump for an appointment to be special counsel to investigate possible crimes committed by Hillary Clinton and her associates.

Klayman, a colorful litigator with three decades of head-turning pursuits, told the Washington Examiner he will form a “citizen’s grand jury” to review evidence against Clinton if Trump doesn’t appoint him special counsel by the end of November.

On Monday, after two indictments and a guilty plea in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of possible Trump ties to Russia, Klayman said signatures were pouring in for his online petition, which he intends to deliver to the Justice Department and the White House.

“I do know a lot of people in and around him. President Trump will get this, and I know he follows what I do,” Klayman said. “Trump has the authority to tell [Attorney General] Jeff Sessions to appoint me.”

Trump has pointedly criticized what he called Sessions’ "very weak" approach toward Clinton. Klayman imagines himself as a second special counsel alongside Mueller, though he also believes Mueller should be fired.

Apparently the only bias that is outlawed is left-leaning bias.
