Ex-Penn State coach Sandusky's son sentenced for child sex crimes

Source: Reuters

DECEMBER 8, 2017 / 3:13 PM / UPDATED 35 MINUTES AGO

Suzannah Gonzales

(Reuters) - The adopted son of Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State University assistant football coach convicted of sexually abusing young boys, was sentenced on Friday to serve up to seven years in prison for child sex crimes, a court official said.

Jeffrey Sandusky, 42, pleaded guilty in September to soliciting two teenage sisters for sex, according to Pennsylvania prosecutors. The guilty pleas came one week before he was set to go to trial on allegations that he sent lewd text messages to the underage girls asking for sex and naked photographs.

Centre County Court of Common Pleas Judge Pamela Ruest sentenced Sandusky to three-and-a-half to seven years in prison followed by one year of probation, district court administrator Kendra Miknis said in an email.

Sandusky’s lawyer, Lance Marshall, declined to comment on the sentence, but he said that his client is currently being held at the Centre County Correctional Facility and will be moved to the State Correctional Institution in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

But that doesn't exonerate someone from crimes. I'm going to go ahead and delete my post because it's not something to be flippant about.

you learn there are two choices in life: become an abuser - or be abused.

Most male abused children "choose" the former.

(Note: I do not KNOW that Sandusky abused his child, but chances are he did.)

I’d bet a paycheck Dad Sandusky was sexually abused, and I’d bet another paycheck, OK half another paycheck, it was his Dad. Who ran some kind of program for children, if memory services.

In the mid eighties and the perp had served time for rape at knife point already, and he only got two years. This is a remarkably harsh penalty for soliciting only... No physical contact at all? Am I missing something?

This is partially why we have the highest incarceration rate in the world, people like to think it's only those non violent drug users. The fact of the matter is compared with the rest of the western world we have far harsher sentences across the board. That and finding new things to criminalize, lock up the parents that let their kid walk home from the park alone then lock up the kid for playing doctor etc.
