Charlottesville, Va. has renamed a street in honor of the woman who was killed during the white nationalist rally in August.
Heather Heyer Way marks the spot where 32-year-old Heyer was killed when a man drove a car into a crowd of counter-protesters at a Unite the Right rally.
Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer spoke at the dedication for the street on Wednesday and read a proclamation announcing the honorary street name, according to C-Ville Weekly.
The terror attack that resulted in Ms. Heyers death and serious injuries to dozens more shocked our community and touched the heart and soul of not only Charlottesville, but the entire country, Signer said, reading the proclamation. This honorary designation pays tribute to Ms. Heyers dedication to justice, fairness, equal rights for all and positive social change.
