Obama's popularity is rising even as Trump is president

Source: The Boston Globe

By Astead W. Herndon GLOBE STAFF JANUARY 07, 2018

WASHINGTON — One American politician is currently dominating the cultural landscape, from social media to late-night television. His poll numbers look great, his Twitter posts are often among the most read in the world, and with every utterance, his impassioned base of supporters reacts with a fervor more typical for celebrities than former civil servants.

Meet Barack Obama.

The former president left office last January with favorable approval ratings, but historians, former staffers, and political observers now say his societal standing has reached a new echelon — and it’s partly due to his successor.

Donald Trump spent much of his first year in office attempting to erase Obama’s policy legacy, but experts, backed by loads of anecdotal evidence, say Trump’s unconventional and often divisive conduct has actually deepened the connection to Obama for liberals and independents. As the current president spent 2017 buffeted by scandals and igniting Twitter controversies, Obama seemed to increasing numbers a throwback to simpler political times, more deeply admired by those who find Trump ever more deeply objectionable.

by both Pres. and Mrs. Obama. They will not be sitting on the sidelines.

Their ability to speak to people from a more humble position and keep things respectful, will strengthen the Democratic Party base as the mid terms draw closer, if not already. They will be stumping for Tammy Baldwin and others running for Office.

The Obamas present the biggest threat to the Trump presidency, if you can call it that, by their mere smiles and compassion for others.

due to Jerusalem capital recognition

.. and vastly more popular in Russia due to Putin

Otherwise, the rest of the planet prefers Obama

In the wake of GW Bush and Trump (the two worst presidents of my lifetime), Obama (the best president of my lifetime) is bound to look good to a lot of people.

Russia will sadly never be a real Democracy, and Israel catering to Trump is sick.

Drumpf is doing EVERYTHING that he ranted and raved that Obama had supposedly done (a lie) that was illegal, immoral, outrageous or disgraceful.

They think that people forgot his bombastic means for classic "projection" (via numerous idiotic press conferences gobbled up by the gullible media or through a multitude of interviews laden with softball questions to him and tacit approval of his nonsensical arguments), where we are now confirming, in spectacular fashion, that he is guilty of almost everything that he claimed others were guilty of.

any Republican Presidential candidate they could run. I doubt any serious candidate would even attempt to run against her knowing he couldn't win. Michelle Obama would also increase voter turnout leading to down ballot upsets never seen in history. The Obamas are widely respected, trusted, and loved.
