US plans institute of innovation to prevent jobs going to India
WASHINGTON: The Obama Administration has announced setting up of an institute for manufacturing innovations which will help prevent jobs going to India and China.
"This institute will help make sure that manufacturing jobs of tomorrow take root not in places like China or India, but right here in the United States of America," US President Barack Obama said in a statement.
"That is how we will put more people back to work and build an economy that lasts," he added.
The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute ( NAMII), which will be based in Ohio, will be a public-private partnership initiative and has received USD 70 million as the initial financial assistance.

(11,928 posts)this is playing right into the hands of the rightwingers who claim that American workers "aren't good enough". The whole problem is that the tax breaks for offshoring jobs have to be removed, and that any U.S. companies offshoring jobs be labeled as foreign companies, and heavy tariffs imposed.

you dont manufacture any products here, you dont get to sell any products here.
want to make cheap garbage in china? have fun selling it there.
altho, ive been hearing grumblings the last year from some businesses that claim its becoming almost as expensive to do business in china as it is here because of their rate of failure off the line.. and products having to be redone over and over
