White House to Congress: Russia sanctions not needed now

Last edited Tue Jan 30, 2018, 06:59 PM - Edit history (2)

Source: Politico

The Trump administration informed lawmakers Monday that new Russia sanctions called for in a bipartisan bill passed last year are not necessary yet because the measure is already "serving as a deterrent."

The announcement came as lawmakers in both parties nudged the administration to implement sanctions legislation that passed overwhelmingly in July — with only five no votes in both the House and Senate. The sanctions bill requires the imposition of penalties by Monday against entities doing "significant" business with Moscow's defense and intelligence sectors, unless Congress is notified that prospective targets are "substantially reducing" that business.

Russia's goal; "undermining U.S. democracy by polarizing the American constituency"

“I think I’ll leave that to Bob Mueller to answer,” Vinograd replied. “What I do think is, we already know from the intelligence community — and the entire intelligence community agrees on this — is that Donald Trump was Russia’s preferred candidate. Now that is not because any kind of personal love for Donald Trump. It is because they viewed him and his election as being more preferable to advancing their policies and to advancing their mission again of undermining U.S. democracy by polarizing the American constituency and decreasing American leverage around the world, and that is what Vladimir Putin wants.”

I read this on DU this morning and just heard this on MSNBC. OUTRAGEOUS! I am embarrassed to be an American. I am thoroughly disgusted with this country for electing a criminal and for electing GOP enablers which makes the GOP criminals as well. No one is even putting this on TV much since the planned DISTRACTION of the "memo" is all consuming on the MSM.

Trump agreed to lift the sanctions if he got Putin's help in getting elected. This was laid out in the Steele dossier and there was a tape made in 2016 (I believe it's an audiotape not video) of Trump agreeing to that. The tape was hand-delivered early in 2016, supposedly by Jared Kushner. I believe he gave it to Felix Sater who then gave it to Putin. The question is whether a copy of the same tape is in existence, and does Mueller have it?
