Names of campaign donors to be flashed during live stream of Trump's State of the Union speech

Source: WaPo

President Trump is seeking to parlay his first State of the Union address on Tuesday into cash for his reelection campaign by offering supporters a chance to see their name flashed on the screen during a broadcast of the speech.

In a fundraising solicitation on Monday, Trump offered those willing to pay at least $35 the opportunity to see their name displayed during a live streaming of the address on his campaign website.

“This is a movement,” the solicitation says. “It’s not about just one of us. It’s about ALL of us. Which is why your name deserves to be displayed during Tuesday night’s speech.”

The web page to which the solicitation links offers donors the opportunity to contribute as much as $2,700 — the maximum amount allowed per election.

How come nobody asks why the tRump "merchandise" is made in sweatshops overseas, while Shithead is hollering "Bring jobs back"? Also, this blatant begging for $$$ shows that he is no billionaire.

I don’t think he’s one either, but there’s an unwritten rule in the billionaire class: never spend your own money unless you absolutely have to. You let other people spend your money but they must return it with interest.

The real reason we know he’s not a billionaire is he has personal liability in his buildings. When a real billionaire borrows money for one of his businesses, the investors will come after the business and leave the investor out of it. On Trump’s projects they’ll come after Trump.

My estimate of his real net worth after deducting the parts of his buildings he doesn’t own? The Titanic isn’t that far underwater.

The only way to stop them is to hit them in their pocketbooks. The boycott needs to be extensive. So far, https://grabyourwallet.org has 472 companies listed, including Amazon, Home Depot, AARP. It is going to be inconvenient but I, for one, am going to methodically ensure i do not give my money to any of these places. I am also going to contact the places I do shop and let them know why i am not spending my money there. I am also going to track down who supports the GOP minions and stop spending money at those companies as well. Nothing else is working.

I am inclined to do a blanket boycott, at least initially, only of companies or their CEOS who endorsed or donated to Trump, and, of course, especially those who continue to do so. For the others that I may otherwise patronize, I will start with letters asking them to stop carrying Trump-related products (Then I'll gauge my next actions by how they respond).

If airtime is given by the networks, and is used for purposes of collecting campaign contributions, the airtime is an in-kind contribution and is subject to reporting. It’s somewhat like the “franking” privilege which has been debated a lot over the years. https://www.everycrsreport.com/reports/RS22771.html

It’s absolutely unsavory. But this country elected a failed businessman and marginally successful reality TV star as President, and his administration is no better than a stupid reality TV show. What were the dumbfucks thinking? (That is a purely rhetorical question). Maybe the sequel will have the administration naked and afraid in the Whitehouse. It’s already afraid of Mueller and impeachment. Lock the fucker up!
