Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) mocked President Donald Trump’s wish for a parade celebrating U.S. military might.

The South Carolina Republican told CNN’s Manu Raju that parades celebrating the military aren’t necessarily bad, but he rapped Trump’s plan for a display of military hardware in Washington, D.C.

“(It’s) kind of cheesy and a sign of weakness,” Graham told the reporter.

The senator also said he was “not interested in Russian-style hardware display,” according to Raju.

Ah say, deah Lindsey, that y'all might wanna' check the calendar and find yourself something called "MEMORIAL DAY" - and another one called "VETERANS DAY."

Seems to me that those might be considered days to honor those who have served to protect our country and would be fine times to do something to honor those fine men and women - well, besides running off to Florida to golf...........................

While we are inventing a holiday to honor the military and veterans, why don't we have one to:
celebrate the birth of Jesus
commemorate the Fourth of July
have mattress sales to remember our past Presidents
etc etc goddamn etc

This country does NOT need any fucking 'annual parade" celebrating the military. We have, oh I don't know, how about FOOTBALL, for that... and (on edit) Memorial Day and Veterans' Day and Fourth of July. and and and.....

To celebrate the 'best among us', now THAT might be another matter. But the best among us is not necessarily only the military.

We do have days that celebrate the military.

And every sporting event I go to, and fortunately as a sports fan is a lot, they celebrate/honor at least one veteran or active military person during a timeout. And I stand and applaud their service.

Personally, I find glorifying war in this manner troublesome in its own right. It normalizes the fact that for all of my students' lives, we have been at "war". I do not like that. It does not put our once great country in a good light.

July 4, Memorial Day, Veterans' Day...

But it is not all about them, it's about all of us. That's a big difference.

Among the many problems with Trump's cockamamie idea is that this parade is all about HIM. HE, the Mighty Trump, wants a big noisy parade, and psychic damage to the country be damned and physical damage to Washington be damned.

If Lindsay Graham and the rest of them can't call this out for what it is, they continue to be collaborators with Trump in wrecki g this nation.
