Kelowna city hall considers flying 'pro-life' flag

Kelowna could become the first city in British Columbia to fly a "pro-life" flag over city hall.

The flag would fly during the last week of September, which the city has proclaimed "Protect Human Life Week," as it has done for the past five years.

Marlon Bartram, executive director of the Kelowna Right to Life Society, said the city hall rejected the flag’s original design, which included the words 'From conception to natural death' along the bottom of the flag.

The flag:

How " pro life" is it just flying a damn FLAG? Versus doing something for the living people of the community like helping the poor or ill, or solving problems in places like education? Maybe everything's fine in Kelowna now enough that the city government is taking such an inane flag seriously?

I visited Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Banff, and other places along the trans Canada highway within BC and Alberta in summer 2009. Not Kelowna though. I wonder if Kelowna has a very visible fundamentalist presence.

Kelowna and the Canadian Okanogon in general is one of the most beautiful places. It's undiscovered by Americans, full of fruit, wineries, lovely hotels and lakes everywhere. I have visited Osoyoos and Kelowna a number of times for fun and frolic but never interacted with the locals.
