Military Times poll: Majority oppose Trump's military parade
Source: The Hill
An informal Military Times poll found that vast majority of the publications readers oppose the idea of a military parade in Washington, D.C.
The publication, an independent news source that covers the armed forces for service members and their families, published the results of its poll, which was launched on its website Wednesday. The poll asked readers should there be a parade showing troops and military equipment in Washington, D.C.?
Eighty-nine percent of Military Times readers responded by answering No, its a waste of money and troops are too busy.
Just 11 percent responded by answering Yes, its a great opportunity to show off U.S. military might.

(11,118 posts)Days - DAYS - would be spent in spiffing up tanks to be parade ready. Training time would be used to rehearse for the parade instead of skills needed to stay alive on the next deployment. It's more important to soldiers that they be ready for the next deployment than marching and practicing a snappy eyes-right.

(629 posts)I can tell you that no one hated parades more than the troops in them. We bitched, moaned and groaned about having to be in one from the time we were told until the time it was over. And those parades were only on post! It got down to them walking the halls of post telling people to get into their class A's and meet on the parade ground.

(5,480 posts)Usually a total waste of several days away from our jobs or training, for practicing. It also usually cost most of us some real cash because we needed to replace or tailor some uniform piece that we very rarely wore, or get new ribbons or devices so that we would 'look our best' or to replace lost items, or to add ribbons earned since the last parade to our rack.
Total waste of time...and these things were usually held on a weekend or on a holiday, so we also lost at least one regular day of off-duty time.

(2,174 posts)Senior officers, Pentagon staff, DOD officials... you know, ass kissing sycophants.
The same ones who push for shiny new toys over care for personal, manpower cuts while at the same time push more more time in the field doing missions (not that they are the ones that ever go out and get dirty/sweaty/bloody).
High ranking fuck-wit officers, along with some high ranking sell-out enlisted people.
