Teenager Who Threatened Florida Round 2 And Posed With Rifle On Social Media Tells Cops He Was Jok

Source: Newsweek

Police in South Carolina arrested a high school student Thursday after he allegedly claimed to be planning “round 2 of Florida” in a post on social media. He subsequently played it off as a joke.

Fox Carolina reported the ninth grade student at Broome High School in Spartanburg was arrested after he posed in a photo posted to Snapchat wearing a face mask that obscured part of his face and holding what appeared to be an assault rifle.

The image caption read: “Round 2 of Florida tomorrow.” The post was a reference to slayings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Wednesday where a gunman shot and killed 17 people.

The suspected shooter Nikolas Cruz, a former student at the school, posted pictures of himself holding weapons and wearing hats and bandanas to obscure his face in pictures similar to those posted from South Carolina.

Get each one banned from the social media they posted on.

I guarantee you the Terms of Service can easily interpret such "jokes" as violations.

I think of that recent case where the cops shot and killed an innocent person in that "swatting" incident.

So easy for people to create false aliases online and get innocent people into trouble (a lot of teenage boys, in particular seem fond of that sort of thing).

Even in Florida letting a teen have unsupervised access to a gun is a no-no.

That gun should be confiscated.

vs a "hand gun" and there is no minimum age for who one could sell/transfer rifles, i.e., "long guns" to - (ht tp://lawcenter.giffords.org/gun-laws/policy-areas/who-can-have-a-gun/minimum-age/)

Unlicensed persons may sell, deliver, or otherwise transfer a long gun or long gun ammunition to a person of any age.

So then you have all this blubbering about how the AR-15 is a "hunting rifle" and other nonsense to justify it.

(*NOTE: You can copy the above link into a browser and remove the space from the "ht tp". For some reason, the code in the forum software is trying to take Gabby/Mark Gifford's surname in the website domain name and translate it into a graphic with a "gif" extension.)

Yeah, I'd say this kid pretty much fucked up the rest of his life with this little stunt.

It's sad that a kid would do this to himself. But it's even more sad that a kid would do something like this to get attention.

like an Old Testament God. Crap like this is why cops can't investigate people like Nikolas Cruz. Too many fake threats and jokes. "If you see something, say something" doesn't work if there is no follow-up from authorities.
Charge this kid with a felony, let him serve time, then let him try to live in society with this on his record.
And, for the sake of all that is good and holy, keep away from guns.
