Conservative political analyst and commentator Mona Charen was booed at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday after she called out President Trump and conservatives over sexual harassment allegations.
Charen was on a panel discussing feminism, when she called out hypocrisy in the GOP for its support of Trump despite multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault against him.
"I am disappointed in people on our side for being hypocrites about sexual harassers and abusers of women who are in our party, who are sitting in the White House, who brag about their extramarital affairs, who brag about mistreating women," Charen said without mentioning the president's name. "And because he happens to have an 'R' after his name, we look the other way, we don't complain," she added.
At least 16 women have accused the president of inappropriate behavior ranging from sexual harassment to sexual assault over the years. Those accusations have gained new attention in the "#MeToo" movement aimed at exposing sexual misconduct.

Why are you here? Someone shouted. Charen has been a conservative since her time in the Reagan administration.

(19,204 posts)is now a flaming liberal compared to Trump's bunch of fascist lunatics.
I've been watching the evolution of the Republican party since the Nixon administration. It's gotten progressively more right-wing each election cycle. Nixon would be a "snowflake " liberal in today's Republican party, and no one realizes how hard that is for me to say!
Ronnie Raygun's bunch, with the exception of Ollie North, would be booed out of any CPAC convention. Those type of people are the Republican old guard, and have no place in Trump-Amerikkka. If you're not a 'balls to the wall' fascist, they have no use for you.

(129,608 posts)I do believe the worst of the worst happened post-Citizen's United in 2010, where there were 4 elections worth of lunatics sent to Congress and installed in the states. The Raygun Republicans who survived being primaried only did so by going full-on crazy.
I was born and raised in a state (PA) that produced Dick Thornburgs and Tom Ridges as governors and later as U.S. department heads. They were "annoying Republicans" as I termed them. I rarely if ever heard of the GOP here going full born crazy and on attack. The fact that we had booted Frothy (replaced by (D) Casey) meant we hadn't completely drunk the koolaid yet. But NOW our own state has nutjobs running the state legislature, and the partial remedy was the booting of the GOP governor (Cor-butt) in 2014 and replacing him with Wolf (D) to put a halt to their radical agenda, but it's still been a constant battle ever since. And that is because of all the dark money flowing in.

And then ends it, with a question about the whole #metoo movement "Is this good for women?"
Really?

(2,759 posts)I love to see anyone acting with courage and integrity, even those whose party is different from mine.
Who knows? The act of thinking for herself and speaking out when she knows it won't be accepted by most hearing it may, just may, cause some shift and growth in her political understandings. And her courage may encourage others to take their own small steps of thinking for themselves.
