ICE arrests undocumented dad while gardening
Source: ABC News
Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a man in his backyard yesterday in California in a video captured by his wife.
Helena Ponce told Los Angeles ABC affiliate KABC that ICE went into the family's backyard in Napa, California, asked her husband his name and arrested him without any problems. His daughter also watched as multiple ICE agents put him in their car.
Ponce's husband, 39, immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico when he was 4 years old, according to his family.

(3,384 posts)In case you haven't noticed but old Dems haven't been winning all that much these days..
It is now the new, younger, progressives that are now winning.

(24 posts)ICE's statement on the arrest...
"On Sunday, Feb. 25, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) San Francisco Fugitive Operations Team arrested ICE fugitive Armando Nuñez-Salgado, 38, a citizen of Mexico and documented Sureño gang member, who has been previously removed by ICE on four prior occasions. Over the past 18 years he has accumulated criminal convictions in California that have resulted in more than 15 years of prison sentencings. His criminal convictions include assault with a deadly weapon (statutorily enhanced because of his gang member status), burglary, hit-and-run causing injury and evading a peace officer."

(7,805 posts)His criminal past and exit from prison was over 15 years ago. Trump's Administration had him arrested, to make a proof of Trump's points - that it is all thugs.
He was arrested for criminal past; but was not - as the posted bulletin in comment above states - whereabouts unknown - armed and dangerous.
Feds brought extra large team.and camera crew - in hopes of documenting flight -but the surrender was peaceful.

(62,276 posts)Find someone who hasn't been arrested on any charges in years, someone who has been here for quite some time, whose major arrests are deportation in that time. Make sure it's someone who has a sordid history in their youth. They're trying to normalize the deportation of people here since they were kids, so that they can go after many others with less scary backgrounds.
Give it time and we'll start seeing young Latinos who were brought here when they were 3-4 years old getting deported over a DUI or something.

(62,276 posts)I'm saying cases like this open up the normalization of getting rid of people who have led less sordid lives here.
Dude is a perfect case of someone who may or may not have reformed who is easy pickings. There are probably a lot of guys out there like that.

I am not a big fan of ICE but I don't question them about this - this is a guy we don't want in America.

There are many other victims of Trump's war against dreamers to highlight. Mr. Nunez-Salgado is no victim and was rightfully detained if his ICE wanted page is correct. No outrage to dispense in this case.
He can garden with his fellow gang members elsewhere.
Good job ICE.
