'Pharma Bro' asks judge for leniency, saying he was a fool
Source: AP
"Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli admitted that he was "very far from blameless" in a letter to a judge asking for leniency, according to court filings.
"I was wrong, I was a fool. I should have known better," Shkreli wrote in his letter to Brooklyn federal court Judge Kiyo Matsumoto.
"I accept the fact that I made serious mistakes, but I still believe that I am a good person with much potential," Shkreli said.
The brash former pharmaceuticals company CEO was convicted in August of cheating investors in two failed hedge funds. He remains in jail and faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced March 9.

(279 posts)Epipen was bought by Mylan, which he had nothing to do with. Furthermore, he didn't go to jail or get in any trouble for raising drug prices. His conviction/crime was unrelated to that.

(50,566 posts)Daraprim is the drug Shkreli jacked the price from $13.50 per tablet to $750 per tablet. It is an antiparasitic drug (which, incidentally, costs 10 cents a tablet in the Third World) that in the US is largely used in treating AIDS.
The only "leniency" I would give this scumbag is to lock him in solitary for thirty years so he doesn't get thrown off the third floor landing of his cell block.

Maybe he has reformed.

Martin Shkreli showed no mercy towards the abolutely helpless people who depended on that drug, and some people died because of his actions. Why should you show any mercy to him now?

(50,566 posts)I hate to be all judgmental and shit, but Martin Shkreli comes from bad seed. What he's doing is pretty much proforma for scumbags: claim he is a good person, that he can change, that events beyond his control caused him to do what he did.
Sorry, Martin.
He is a totally evil person. He is completely irredeemable. The only difference between Shkreli and Donald Trump is Shkreli got caught.

I would give him 10 years for every dollar he earned illegally. TO be served Consectively.
That should give him natural life in prison.
