EXCLUSIVE. Trump lawyer Michael Cohen tries to silence adult-film star Stormy Daniels

Source: NBC News

President Donald Trump's lawyer is trying to silence adult-film star Stormy Daniels, obtaining a secret restraining order in a private arbitration proceeding and warning that she will face penalties if she publicly discusses a relationship with the president, NBC News has learned.

The new pressure on Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, comes a day after she filed a lawsuit in a Los Angeles court alleging that a nondisclosure agreement she made to keep quiet about an "intimate" relationship with Trump is invalid because he never signed it.

Tuesday's lawsuit says that Trump attorney Michael Cohen — who brokered the agreement with Clifford during the presidential campaign — attempted to "intimidate" Clifford and "shut her up" by initiating what it calls a "bogus arbitration proceeding" against her in Los Angeles on Feb. 27, 2018.

On that day, Cohen obtained a temporary restraining order against Clifford from the private arbitrator, a retired judge, which bars her from disclosing "confidential information" related to the nondisclosure agreement signed in October 2016, according to a copy of the document obtained by NBC News.

would be stupid enough to have his lawyer make. I actually thought that Trump not paying his lawyer was a great way of building a plausible tenability about his "relation-ship" with a porn actress. "Hey, the lawyer gave her that bag o' cash, I sure as hell didn't!"

the origin of the matter would be where the contract for nondisclosure was put in place ... I.e. Delaware (if I recall the details correctly)

Jurisdiction (from the Latin ius, iuris meaning "law" and dicere meaning "to speak&quot is the practical authority granted to a legal body to administer justice within a defined field of responsibility, e.g., Michigan tax law. In federations like the United States, areas of jurisdiction apply to local, state, and federal levels; e.g. the court has jurisdiction to apply federal law.

Colloquially it is used to refer to the geographical area to which such authority applies, e.g. the court has jurisdiction over all of Colorado. The legal term refers only to the granted authority, not to a geographical area.

Jurisdiction draws its substance from international law, conflict of laws, constitutional law, and the powers of the executive and legislative branches of government to allocate resources to best serve the needs of society.

The lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Ms. Clifford $130,000 in October 2016 in return for her signing a nondisclosure agreement, which prevented Ms. Clifford, known professionally as Stormy Daniels, from discussing the alleged sexual encounter.

Mr. Cohen didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did a representative for the White House. Along with Mr. Trump, Ms. Clifford named as a defendant in the suit Essential Consultants LLC, a Delaware company Mr. Cohen used to make the settlement payment, but not Mr. Cohen himself.

Anyone remember that name from the 60s? She had an interesting "hobby" that she used to practice on Rock and Roll Stars from the 60s.

I believe Ms. Daniels has something similar, or exactly the same, as Cynthia did. Considering her "profession", perhaps it's more video related. But she has something that can really embarrass Donnie Little Hands. I believe Trump's bosom buddy, Vladimir Putin, knows about this as well.

I have no inside information about this, but the amount of attention that's being paid to her, and her complete lack of fear regarding Donnie Little Hands, leads me to believe she has something no one else has!

On that day, Cohen obtained a temporary restraining order against Clifford from the private arbitrator, a retired judge, which bars her from disclosing "confidential information" related to the nondisclosure agreement signed in October 2016, according to a copy of the order obtained by NBC News.

On Feb. 28, Cohen emailed the restraining order to Clifford's former attorney, Keith Davidson. "The document itself is to remain confidential and not to be disclosed to anyone as per the terms of the judge's order," the email, obtained by NBC News, said.

Reached for comment late Wednesday afternoon, Clifford's current attorney, Michael Avenatti, said Cohen, through his own attorney, Lawrence Rosen, has made further attempts to enforce the order and caution Clifford that she is subject to damages if she talks about Trump.

"Earlier today, Mr. Cohen through his attorney, Mr. Rosen, further threatened my client in an effort to prevent her from telling the truth about what really happened," Avenatti said. "We do not take kindly to these threats, nor we will be intimidated."
