Former top Trump aide Steve Bannon told the French far right on Saturday that "history is on our side" as he addressed a National Front party conference that is seeking to bounce back from crushing electoral setbacks.

"The tide of history is with us and it will compel us to victory after victory, after victory," Bannon, once a powerful figure in the Trump administration and former head of Breitbart News, told the FN conference in its northern stronghold of Lille.

- 'King of fake news' -

Bannon, who has repeatedly expressed support for Europe's far-right movements, fired the opening salvo at the gathering, even if the head of Macron's Republic on the Move party, Christophe Castaner, earlier dubbed him "the king of fake news and of white supremacists."

Bannon said he agreed with Le Pen's expressed belief that "it is not about left versus right. That's too simplistic and it's the way the opposition party, media, has always kept us out of power. "She described it perfectly: it's do you consider the nation state an obstacle to be overcome or a jewel to be polished, loved and nurtured?"

UPDATE:

Bannon to French far-right party: 'Let them call you racists'

BY JOSH DELK - 03/10/18 02:25 PM EST

Former White House strategist Steve Bannon encouraged members of France's far-right National Front party on Saturday to embrace backlash to their positions as "a badge of honor."

"Let them call you racists, let them call you xenophobes, let them call you nativists, wear it as a badge of honor," Bannon told members of the anti-mass immigration party in video published by The Washington Post.

Bannon spoke at the National Front's annual convention in the French city of Lille after traveling through Europe in recent weeks for meetings with populist leaders of various parties. From his travels, Bannon said he is now certain "history is on our side."

Despite being ousted from his White House post last year and feuding with Trump in recent months, Bannon praised the president's "economic nationalism" that he said "does not care about your race, your religion, your ethnicity."

"It cares about one thing: Are you a citizen of the United States of America?"

What was his point? Nazis always win? That's not true.
The far right can't get out of it's own way? That's true but not much of a platform.

You remember, when the poor people of Paris sent all the rich aristocrats to the guillotine?
I'm pretty sure the French people aren't listening to Bannon, or anybody on the alt-right.

In the period between 1944 and 1951, a total of 6,762 people were sentenced to death by the official French courts. Of those, 3,910 were trialed in absentia. However, only 791 collaborators were actually executed; more were subjected to the National Degradation punishment, which included the loss of their political, civil, and professional rights. The convicted became second-class citizens, and a total of 49,723 people were punished this way.

Within the rigid and self-centered beliefs of the right wing are the reasons for its ultimate self-destruction.

These extreme right-wing movements become festering grounds for internal rivalries, jealousies and hate.

It is inimical to the philosophy of the right-wing that people can work together peacefully for a good that is not just their own good.

Hitler's Circle of Evil. Be sure to see it.

I didn't help make it. I have no interest in the movie. It's just a great documentary. A very important documentary for all who are interested in politics.
