Tampa, Florida (CNN) - The Republican Party is once again set to enshrine into its official platform support for "a human life amendment" to the Constitution that would outlaw abortion without making explicit exemptions for rape or incest, according to draft language of the platform obtained exclusively by CNN late Monday.

"Faithful to the 'self-evident' truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed," the draft platform declares. "We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children."

The party will reaffirm its opposition to federally-funded stem cell research and demand that the government "should not fund or subsidize health care which includes abortion coverage."

Republicans have also inserted a "salute" to states pushing "informed consent" laws - an apparent reference to ultrasound bills that have moved through some state legislatures - "mandatory waiting periods prior to an abortion, and health-protective clinic regulation."

Women still vote for Republicans. This has always perplexed me.

No one sees the controversy nor the extreme nature of the Republican position on this. I just don't get it.

I think every time President Obama talks about his support for women, the republicans will move in the OPPOSITE direction just to spite him and show there's a clear difference between the parties. They are too stupid to see that they are only driving voters to our party.

as more and more citizens refuse to participate in elections because they are disgusted with the two parties, and feel like their vote no longer counts the religious right can win with unpopular views with a small minority that gets the vote out consistently. The Christian right has been very effective and is really starting to push for a total abortion ban and won't give up, where as, third party voters, and voters who drop out of the system in a way will contribute to their success

One is a year away from graduating college, and the other is in junior high. My deepest wish for them right now is that they will someday have the means to leave this country for good. I fear for them both in this society. My son, who is gay, has definite plans to leave once he gets his undergrad degree.

I hope that when people fully realize the implications of what the GOP wants to do, they will wake up and vote accordingly in November. But I truly doubt it, and that saddens and scares me tremendously.

My family, in essence, is not welcome here anymore.

they would have done it when the controlled the WH, the Supremes, and Congress. Nothing would have stopped them.

The answer? They're not serious about it at all. And not out of respect for women or reproductive rights. Oh no. They know that it's an effective wedge issue, red meat for their base. (see also: gay marriage, guns, immigration)

The GOP will never ban abortion. It's too valuable for them.

And with the huge rightward lurch of the Republican party since 2008 alone, they have done a lot to reduce the availability of abortion. We are just one Supreme Court justice away from it being banned altogether.

But an outright ban? Again I ask: if they want to ban it altogether, why didn't they do so when they ran the table?

I suspect that if the Teabillies ever have their way and the GOP took meaningful steps to ban abortion, it may actually galvanize moderate Republicans to step up and tell the Teabillies where to get off.

This has been an uglified approach to women's rights by the GOP for ever. It is an Agenda that will not go away anytime soon. I personally believe every women has a right to chose by herself or her family what actions she or they believe in as to Reproduction Rights and Decisions. I have no problem with the Right to Life citizens as long as they do not interfere with my Rights.

That is why we are Americans and have the kind of freedoms we have. A whole lot of people fought over many years so we could have this really great Country. It is why the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution of the United States.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America".

Some really powerful Words that are being Trampled on by one Party that thinks it resides in a one cultural society where wrongly they are out of touch.

So from a guy who fought for this Country I cannot disagree more with the ideas or agenda of the GOP.

The United States is a multi-cultural country made up of a whole lot of cultures, races, religions, gender and opinions and surely not a one dimensional society like the GOP wants.

The GOP loves life so much that they're trying to kill all of our social safety nets that help improve the quality of life. Makes sense to me!

I take it Republicans plan to set up some sort of fund to help raise all of these unwanted kids that are now going to be brought into the world after abortions are gone?

What they really want is "education" about pregnancy and abortions for women, and Obama's ACA is the best guarantee that will happen.

Ask them how they plan to enforce this ban on abortion?

(1) Women have the right to make independent and un-coerced (e.g. forced ultrasound) decisions about their bodies
(2) Pregnancies are the result of two individuals that seek to create a new life
(3) Individuals engaged in sexual relations have a responsibility to prevent pregnancy through any number of forms of birth control
(4) Individuals do not use abortion including the morning after pill as a remedy to "oops" the night before
(5) We agree that to the extent individuals will be bringing these children to term we will ensure they have adequate pre-natal care, competent deliveries, pediatric care, a safe and secure home with adequate nourishment, love, etc., access to a quality education
(6) We focus on the prospective aptitude of all citizens
(7) We provide quality and affordable health care for ALL citizens
(8) We devolve the focus on incarceration for many crimes with an introspection on what causes drive these crimes - read - fix the problem (e.g. lack of reasonable options)
(9) We eliminate the death penalty as a primitive and unacceptable form of social justice

I could think of others but these are those that come to mind.....

So Women, if this is what you want. If you want to be treated as if you are nothing, then vote Republican.
The Democrats aren't perfect, but, they are a lot better than this.

Maybe I'm tired today, but, there's no point in fighting for something that isn't wanted.
( I spent some time talking to a few "go with the flow" female friends today. Most of them are going to vote Rethug, because their husbands are Rethug supporters.)

Damned of I can understand it.

to keep the undesirable element out of the polls.

Women are one of the groups that can be most impacted by ID laws laws because they often change their names and in consequence don't always have the same name on every document.
