Ben Quayle: Sea of Galilee swim not ‘inappropriate’
Source: Politico
We were having a great dinner at the Sea of Galilee, it was the end of a very long day. And, you know, some people had been talking about, This is the only opportunity that we will be able to go into the sea where Jesus walked on water, and the story that was in POLITICO and the picture that was being really painted was not what I saw or was around, the Arizona Republican said on Fox News.
Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.) was the only congressman to swim nude during the incident, as POLITICO reported Monday. But Quayle said he did not see him in the behavior that he was talking about and that he admitted.
I was not around when Congressman Yoder entered the water. I was not in the water or near any of that, but I was able to go in properly attired, I have to say that, and swim very briefly in the Sea of Galilee, and I actually was able to take a little vial of water home to baptize my daughter, with this water from the Sea of Galilee, he said.

(6,918 posts)Is swimming allowed there? If so, it's not a big deal. But what IS a big deal is a drunken frat party of Republicans in Israel on a partisan political junket. That is the big deal, not whether they went swimming or not.

(1,213 posts)When I finally get the opportunity to tour the White House, I'll strip off my clothes and run naked down the halls because it is the "only opportunity I will ever have to be able to walk where Thomas Jefferson walked". I'll also pocket a vase while I"m there so I can bring it home as a reminder of my visit!

(45,003 posts)Quayle sounds entirely unbelievable.
More likely he had a little too much 'holy' wine
and one thing led to another GOP orgy style.
It was a religious experience. Bwaaa.

I think most of us learned that, right about the second day of 1st grade.

He is trying to make it a religious experience, but maybe it was something else.
Because if a naked, drunken man ran into a pool with someone's daughter here, he would be arrested. And quite likely tased. And that's what he gets assuming the police get him first. (Well, ok, the police kill people in this city for less than that. But generally...)
