Mueller investigating whether Roger Stone met with Assange: report

Source: The Hill

Special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into claims made by Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone that he met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

WikiLeaks released thousands of documents during the 2016 campaign that U.S. intelligence agencies believe came from Russian operatives and were aimed to hurt Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

In an email to fellow former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg dated Aug. 4, 2016, Stone claims that he “dined with Julian Assange last night,” according to the Journal.

Nunberg told The Washington Post earlier this month that investigators working for Mueller asked him to describe his conversation with Stone about meeting with Assange.

Stone has said that the email was a joke and that he never spoke with Assange.

Today was a tipping point at the Washington Post. MSNBC had a Post Reporter on earlier in the day,and he just let it be known, they are done being nice to this Administration and he put them on notice. Notice being,we will call you liar and continue until you stop lying.

And yet every time they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, they say it WAS A JOKE.

No the fuck it wasn't. You aren't funny, you don't joke, you're an asshole, Roger Stone, and Bobby Three Stix is gonna wipe that shit eatin' grin off your vulgar pinheaded mug.

And then he changed his mind and did testify, I believe on March 9th?

That was when Mueller "officially" got a pile of emails and other documents from Nunberg (he probably had them already), and apparently decided to use them to shift to the Stone thread of inquiry.

Chris Hayes just reported the same thing. We all have known about Stone talking about Assange for over a 18 months. You would think if WE and a zillion others were told by Stone how he has been doing all this crap that Mueller would've checked into it when he first got this case a year ago. Isn't that a normal assumption?

to cooperate - like Flynn and Manafort, who would open up other avenues of investigation...notably for both the "collusion" and "obstruction" parts. I think in this case with Nunberg and Stone, who are obviously theatrical liars, they needed some verifiable way to tie Assange's role with Guccifer 2.0 FIRST and then go after those who they communicated with here in the U.S.

The last thing they would want to do given limited resources, is go on a wild goose chase following blind leads that relate to someone like Stone. There are others like that out there too who haven't been approached as far as we know - notably Giuliani (although his name - via his law firm - did pop up recently related to Cambridge Analytica).

with Nunberg vs Randy Credico, leading to an eventual Stone denial that anything happened between himself and Assange. With that kind of nonsense, I would think Mueller would need to get info from the "non-performance art" crowd first before tackling these loons.

That guy that does the impressions is an idiot. I felt badly for the ex Watergate attorney sitting next to him. You're right...it is performances that we see courtesy of our realty TV show fake prez and his ensemble cast of characters.

Even if the Ecuadorians decide not to help and provide their own records, London is the most video taped and recorded city in the world. They'll have some record of when Stone was in London, and where he went.
