'Stormy Effect': Trump's support falls with women, rises with men in new poll
Source: The Hill
Support from women fell from 41 percent to 35 percent in the new Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, even as Trumps support among men rose 3 points to 53 percent.
Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll co-director Mark Penn said the growing gender gap in the poll is the result of the Stormy Effect.
While President Trumps overall ratings are stable, his support increased among men and dropped among women, Penn said. This poll was taken right after the Stormy Daniels interview and so I think this increased gender polarization is the Stormy Effect.

Discouraging as it is that Trump might be gaining support among men, there was some better news with this poll:
57% of voters said they'd like to see Dems win control of the Senate (51% of men and 63% of women). The poll got similar results when asking about control of the House.
When asked about which party's candidate they'd vote for in their own districts, voters favored Dems by a 45-34 margin. But again, this was mostly due to women, who favored Dems 49-26. Male voters were essentially split on the question.

So let's not condemn all men or exonerate all women.

voted for Trump over Hillary by 9 points.
Although a white man, I can't speak for the white men who voted for Trump. I voted for Clinton. So don't "wtf men" me.
Old people voted more for Trump than Clinton, but I don't post "wtf, old people" posts. (I'm old, by the way, but I didn't vote the same way as the majority of my age cohort. I can't speak for that majority either).

(37,748 posts)You seem to believe that an accurate observation in regards to demographics is the same as a condemnation. It's not...
"So let's not be disingenuous simply to support our narrative. Let's learn to read for comprehension beyond our own biases, OK?"

Good advice for you.
Sounds like a condemnation of men to me. I DID NOT VOTE FOR TRUMP. I don't like to be "WTF'd, Men?"
Just like we don't post "WTF black people?" for not turning out in the same numbers that they did in 2008 and 2012.
Just like we don't post "WTF white women?" for voting for Trump by a 9 point margin.
Just like we don't post "WTF married people?" for voting for Trump by a 8 point margin.
(Unmarried people voted for Clinton by an 18 point margin).
Broadbrushing demographics with "WTF (demographic)?" is not helpful and does not unite, but rather divides, and has no place in a progressive forum. It does less than nothing to help us towards reaching our shared goal of electing Democrats.

Oh, just in case.
PS: in my opinion, the antidote to this is to remind jerks that he whimpered and cried like a baby when she swatted him with a magazine.

(10,908 posts)Nor would I with the majority of white women who voted for Trump. And the elderly voted more for Trump than middle-aged and younger.
As an old white guy, my dating pool (if I was looking which I'm not) is cut down by more than half, since I simply would never, ever date a Trumpist woman.
And as far as talking to other white guys my age, sigh, when maybe 3/4 of them voted for Trump... more times than not I know somewhere down the road he's going to tell me he's a "libertarian" and then start ranting about some "Obamacare" something or other.

(65,044 posts)Since the two genders polled are roughly 50:50, a 6 point drop in one and 3 point rise in the other is a net loss.
That's a good thing, although i'm pissed at anybody who now likes "it" more than they used to.
