Man falsely accused in Parkland shooting suing Alex Jones, InfoWars for defamation

Source: CBS News

NEW YORK -- A Massachusetts man is suing Alex Jones after the conspiracy theorist and conservative radio host's website InfoWars misidentified him as the gunman in an article about the Parkland, Florida, high school massacre.

Marcel Fontaine, 24, filed a lawsuit in Texas court Monday naming Jones, InfoWars, parent company Free Speech Systems, LLC and Infowars employee Kit Daniels as defendants. Fontaine is seeking damages after he says InfoWars falsely identified him as the shooter and posted photos of him in several versions of an article on InfoWars' website.

Seventeen people were killed at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14 when former student Nikolas Cruz, 19, opened fire in a building on campus. Cruz was arrested shortly after the shooting and has confessed to the crime.

Fontaine's suit claims a now-deleted InfoWars article including his photo published on Feb. 14 "conveyed the impression that the photograph depicted the suspected Douglas High School shooter." It says the article, along with Fontaine's photo, spread across social media. Fontaine said he was then threatened and ridiculed online.

he needs to face some consequences for his lies.

This sort of thing has happened after other attacks in recent years, where even some legit news agencies share completely wrong people's photos

I so hope that Alex Jones and Infowars are held accountable for the damage they caused him. To date they've been able to get away with a lot of truly awful conspiracy theories that have caused enormous pain. I'd sure like to see Infowars shut down and Jones stopped in his tracks!

First, I broke my glasses last night and can’t get a new pair until Friday. Long story. Yes, I had a spare pair. I broke them in January. Meanwhile, I cannot see squat. I am not responsible for autocorrect until then because I’m just guessing what I’m typing.

Second, I raised that kid right and he didn’t help none at all. Our youngest son, Mark, is suing Alex Jones. If you see the story anywhere else, please let me know.

young man. Jones was to have verified anything he said that pointed to this individual. Jones is irresponsible and should be prosecuted.

"Special damages" also awarded to Mr. Fontaine allowing him the opportunity to kneecap Alex Jones would be the best court decision in years.

Between the frogs and the mind control rays being emitted from the Bohemian Grove, the New World Order is causing him to make some errors in order to embarrass him and thus detract from his war on information.
