Police have responded to reports of gunshots at YouTube headquarters

Source: The Verge

Police have responded to multiple 911 calls at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California. Vadim Lavrusik, a product manager at the company, tweeted that there is an active shooter on campus. The San Bruno Police Department instructed people to stay away from 901 Cherry Avenue, where the company is located. Multiple 911 calls have been received from inside the building, according to a report from local news station KRON.

In a Twitter thread, YouTube product manager Todd Sherman said that employees first thought there had been an earthquake. People began running out of their meetings, he said, but before reaching the exit, they got word that someone had a gun. Sherman said he saw blood on the floor and the stairs. He also said the shooter may have committed suicide.

Footage posted on Spapchat showed YouTube employees streaming out of the building with their hands above their heads.

As one of the most-visited services on the web, YouTube is under constant scrutiny for its policy decisions over content moderation, monetization, and other issues. The doors to its headquarters are typically locked, with visitors having to be buzzed in by someone at the front desk.

"I am a law-abiding gun-owner."

It's the first thing every gun-nut says in the aftermath of a public shooting. The don't seem to realize that this statement essentially points out how weak and unenforceable our gun laws are.

Every active shooter is a law-abiding gun-owner, until he suddenly isn't anymore.

An active shooting at YouTube's headquarters in San Bruno, Calif., sparked panic and a massive police response Tuesday.

Several YouTube employees sent tweets Tuesday afternoon, saying employees were racing out of the company's Cherry Avenue offices shortly after 1 p.m.

At least two people were reportedly struck by gunfire, according to a law enforcement source who was not authorized to speak publicly about the incident. The shooter was described as a woman. So far authorities do not believe this was an act of terrorism, but the investigation has just begun.

Witnesses in the area said they saw dozens of firefighters and police officers descending on the area. Other witnesses said they saw police holding rifles and other weapons.

Shooter was female.
The initial target was her ex-bf while others were shot.
Shooter is dead, self inflicted.

Rather a deliberate attack on YouTube due to anger at the company (and perhaps mental illness).

She has the look of someone not quite right in the head. If Charles Manson and Freda Kahlo had a daughter, she would look like that.
I never saw one of her videos, but apparently YouTube filtered them as not suitable for children, which affected her income. I wonder what was in them, as conspiracy and Nazi videos are on YouTube unfiltered.
