(62,276 posts)This is not a conspiracy, it has happened in the past few high profile cases. Devin Patrick Kelley comes to mind, where only a few snippets of his FB page were able to be recovered. In Chris Harper-Mercer's case everything was expunged, but his crazy gun loving mother's posts were still up for people to scour (she later deleted her FB page of course).
It takes years for the FOIA requests to go through, see Adam Lanza's case, and we'll probably get something eventually.
But I think in the short term period during the investigation phase, it would be better for the discussion if we could look over the posts.

(62,276 posts)As I suspected. You can look up her website on Google and see the cache of it: nasimesabz.com
Luckily some people did archive her more bizarre videos (probably came across them before and just archived them). But she apparently had an extensive posting history. Which is a damn shame, we're talking about hundreds of videos gone. There is a lot of data there to be learned about.
But her instagram, YouTube, facebook, all scrubbed, just as I said.
Now you gotta wait 6 months to send out an FOIA and then the companies will probably have deleted all the videos since we now know this was some kind of angry crazy person mad about their videos being taken down. This event will just vanish from history even though it could be very useful for psychologists to study her videos and her mannerisms and such.

(35,317 posts)The idjits that go on a rampage saying, "I want to kill as many people as I can, even if I don't know them" are still usually white males. Usually white, that is. Still males, almost to a man.
Now, people that go and try to kill ex-lovers, they're more of a mixed bag. The NPR news was saying it was a killer, so many estimated to be shot, and saying maybe it was some disgruntled Youtube gun-supporter--but we can't know for sure. But what, private companies can't decide on what content they'll allow on their own private sites? (Notice the caveat, and then they continued on as though it was almost certainly a gun aficionado.) As soon as they said it was a small number in one place, with "one dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound" it was almost certainly not just a man on a rampage. And they cut to other news.

(37,648 posts)So not a mass shooting like so many others. Still a multiple shooting. WTH? Why don't people just kill the people they're mad at, instead of killing others, too? I'm not suggesting it's okay to kill anyone, but I don't understand this "kill everyone standing over there" thing, when they don't know the people or have anything against them.

(2,191 posts)Her father reported her missing yesterday. Today at 2 a.m., police called him to tell him they'd found her sleeping in her car up here (northern California). He told them that she might go to YouTube. It's going to be bad if that turns out to be true, and they could have stopped her.

(3,813 posts)The attacker was a Persian, vegan, female, Cali-resident bodybuilder:
Police have revealed few details about her but US media said she ran a number of channels and a website, posting videos on a variety of subjects including those highlighting animal cruelty. The channels have now been deleted.
Aghdam has been variously described as a vegan bodybuilder, artist and rapper.

(3,813 posts)Never been an NRA member. If they just protected the Second Amendment, I might have joined in the past (I have been a member of the ACLU many times, and would send them $$$ again if I had them to spare...) But in recent decades, the NRA morphed into a cheerleader for abusive law enforcement and the War on (some) Drugs, while also being a mouthpiece for Republicans. Some of this is understandable, since Democrats have vacillated between being weak to truly awful on Second Amendment issues since the late 1960's, but it's still no excuse. And I value women's right to reproductive freedom, LGBTQ rights, privacy (another right where Democrats' record is mixed, but consistently better than Repubs), financial regulation (same), etc. all too much to ever willingly support Republicans at this stage.
Yes, I do believe that the NRA accepted and essentially laundered Russian money before and during the 2016 election, and I do believe that is a criminal offense. The fact that I share some measure of support for the Second Amendment with some NRA members is not enough for me to excuse or ignore this fact.
So, now you know.

(3,194 posts)Then the NRA & ALL It's Members are responsible for these deaths.
It's the damn gun culture, and the NRA is in business to keep that alive. The belief that you can resolve any problem with a firearm.

(3,813 posts)Does one Jihadi (or a thousand) indict all of Islam?
Do a few million American Fundies indict all of Christianity?
Is the "damn corruption culture" of Democrats like former Presidential candidate John Edwards or former Detroit Mayor Kwame Malik Kilpatrick enough to damn all the Democratic Party? They each used their Democratic leader status for rather nefarious ends. Shall we hold all Democrats responsible?
No, I didn't think so. Just as Democrats are more good than bad, so are peaceable gun owners, whether they support the NRA or not. Quit painting with such broad brushes.

(3,194 posts)Did our forefathers think it's a good idea to allow people to have a gun that makes it possible for a single person to kill 60 people in under 10 minutes? Where is that in the Constitution?
appal_jack
(3,813 posts)Did our forefathers think it's a good idea to allow people to have a media platform such that one speaker could reach tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of ears at once? The answer is moot, as the 1st Amendment protects a principle rather than the specific technologies of quills, printing presses, or soapboxes in the town square. The Second Amendment is phrased similarly, to protect the principle of citizens owning arms suitable for militia use.
But you are wrong on another level. While AR-15's might not be familiar to Washington, Madison, or Jefferson, these men were perfectly comfortable with citizens owning warships, capable of fusillades of cannon shots. Compared to that, an AR-15 or any other sub-fifty caliber, semi-automatic rifle is child's play.
Now take a quick gander at Article I, section 8 of the Constitution where the powers of Congress are delineated and we see:
To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water .
Ok, so whats a Letter of Marque or Reprisal? As Wikipedia informs us:
In the days of fighting sail, a letter of marque and reprisal was a government license authorizing a person (known as a privateer) to attack and capture enemy vessels and bring them before admiralty courts for condemnation and sale.
So, in the very body of the Constitution itself we see that the Founders recognized the private ownership of weapons of empire. Were talking about friggin battleships here people, not just muskets and cannons.
