A morning TV producer at a Sinclair-owned station in Nebraska has resigned in protest of what he calls the company's "obvious bias."
Justin Simmons gave notice at KHGI TV on March 26. This was after Sinclair's corporate headquarters mandated that local anchors read the controversial promos warning of "fake" and biased news, but before the promos went viral and became a national topic of discussion.
Simmons told CNNMoney that he had been concerned about Sinclair's corporate mandates for the past year and a half, and that the promos were just the final straw.
"This is almost forcing local news anchors to lie to their viewers," he said.

(16,928 posts)this should please those that insisted that those offended should quit to protest their feelings towards the required "corporate mandates."
I've argued that it is difficult to sacrifice one's career in a tough market in order to take a principled stand. I congratulate Justin Simmons and wish him well!

(844 posts)Proud that someone is taking a stand, but my guess is they will just replace this man with a stooge.

(11,476 posts)at end of the start of the 11pm news told the viewers that they were making honest news and if anyone has any problems with anything that they broadcast to please write to them in the comments section of their website and that they take their jobs very seriously.
What was weird was I had tv on mute and I glanced up and saw two new casters with very serious but almost a weird look on their faces like they were being forced to make a statement and they had better get it right.
So I tuned on tv and heard the above message. They said more but I didn't catch all of it.
I wonder if all of the stations had to say that or just mine?
I haven't watched enough of them to comment yet, I normally only watch local news for weather and local stuff and turn when they get political because I already know the daily political stuff from online. And can't stand to hear Trump.
