S.C. Republicans introduce bill to consider secession over gun rights

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 04/06/18 03:12 PM EDT

A group of Republican state legislators in South Carolina introduced a measure Thursday that would allow the state to secede from the United States if the federal government began to seize legally purchased firearms in the state.

The bill, which was referred to the state House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, would allow South Carolina lawmakers to debate whether to secede from the United States if the federal government were to violate the Second Amendment.

It states that "the general assembly shall convene to consider whether to secede from the United States based upon the federal government's unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution if the federal government confiscates legally purchased firearms in this state."

The measure, introduced by GOP Reps. Mike Pitts, Jonathon Hill and Ashley Trantham, comes amid an intense debate over the nation's gun laws that was reignited in February after a deadly mass shooting in Parkland, Fla.

and helped everyone who wanted to leave the south, leave.

The US would be way ahead of the game, had the south become a separate nation.

Maybe with Putin in control of the US, it will come down to that. Let the states that want out, form new nations. Let the southern states be a nation, let the midwest become a country, let the west coast become a country, etc. Let the regions be sovereign nations and let the ones that want to work together form an economic union like the EU.

I wish South Carolina the best in their efforts.

And the South's continued ability to count property as people to have an outsize influence in the House of Representatives (three fifths law). It was also about the their ability to continue to dominate the Senate by having an expansion of slave states. The Union was expanding with the prospect of more free states with the result that slave states would have found themselves in an electoral minority. Thus, of the fist 16 presidential elections, 13 were won by men born in the slave holding states/slave holding families, despite a minority of the actual population (Van Buren was then effectively appointed by Jackson). The next two were Northerners sympathetic to slaveholders. Then came Lincoln - who did not actually plan to end slavery, but only to end the expansion of slavery.

There was very little real movement in the North to end slavery.

I have been reading and studying the subject for 40 years, and I invariably come away perplexed and disgusted.

Then again, all in, about 20 million people willingly sacrificed themselves in WWI for the sick power struggle of a few dozen serious nut cases.

Thus, we should not be really surprised by what is going on today. When people are frightened, they focus entirely on their (usually manufactured) fear, and will do nearly whatever they are told to do in order to alleviate that - almost completely manufactured and not actually real - fear - including sending themselves and all of their families to suffering and death.

All Federal Aid stops. Everybody living in that state will have their Citizenship revoked and will need to apply for a Passport to reenter the US. All Military personnel will be withdrawn from the state and border crossing points will be set up. All Federal Contracts within the state will be cancelled immediately. FDIC will cancel insurance coverage for all banks in the state. Businesses within the state will need to apply for import/export licences for any goods they need to buy or wish to sell outside the state. All Federal employees will need to either relocate back to the US or leave their jobs. This would include Judges, FBI, ATF, Treasury, etc. Agents. And so on. See how they like their new Shithole country.

So every time the word “secession” in uttered by an officeholder, one command should be relocated to a loyal American area. Let them lose the money from all those jobs. That’s what a strong President would do, if we had one.
