Blake Farenthold resigns abruptly from Congress
Source: Dallas Morning News
WASHINGTON -- Corpus Christi Republican Blake Farenthold abruptly resigned from Congress Friday afternoon.
His statement:
Since being elected to Congress in 2010, I've worked to make government more efficient and responsive, cut government spending, repeal Obamacare, protect life and reduce the debt. Locally, I've worked tirelessly to get federal funding for the widening and deepening project at the Port of Corpus Christi and help our other area ports and military facilities. I've also been extremely successful in working with our communities on recovering from Hurricane Harvey. Most importantly, I've been able to help countless people, especially veterans with their problems with the federal government.
"While I planned on serving out the remainder of my term in Congress, I know in my heart it's time for me to move along and look for new ways to serve.

(112,202 posts)There will be runoff elections in May for the seat in both parties. The new congressman will be selected in November so I believe the seat will remain open.
I did get a door flyer from one of the GOP candidates this week, but haven't heard from the Democratic candidates. This is a fairly safe Republican district though. Young minority voters are generally missing from the polls when I vote. It's a poor district with a lot of uneducated voters.

Did Gorka consider Blake to be one of the tough guy alpha males or the rubber duckie arrested development little boy ?
Blake looks so big burly and studly tough but I can't help not to be confused.

Millionaire lawmaker Blake Farenthold paid $84,000 settlement using public funds
US news December 1, 2017
Politico revealed that Texas lawmaker Blake Farenthold used funds from the Office of Compliance, which handles workplace disputes, to settle a sexual harassment complaint brought by his communications director, Lauren Greene, in 2014. Notably, he is the only lawmaker to have used the fund to settle sexual harassment claims in that period.

Resignation is not enough. Farenthold still owes American taxpayers $84,000 for previous sexual harassment charges. Add your name to demand Farenthold pay back our money:
ADD YOUR NAME
Farenthold's conduct is unlawful and disgusting, to say the least. Using Texas taxpayer dollars as a piggy bank to hide your demeaning and degrading harassment of women is even worse.
Farenthold is the 7th Texas Trump Republican to resign or announce they're not seeking re-election. We must keep holding Trump Republicans accountable for their actions.
Thank you for taking action,
Crystal Kay Perkins
