President Donald J. Trump Announces Twelfth Wave of Judicial Nominees, Twelfth Wave of United States Attorneys, and Sixth Wave of United States Marshals

Today President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate a twelfth wave of judicial nominees, twelfth wave of United States Attorneys, and sixth wave of United States Marshals as follows:

If confirmed, Britt C. Grant of Georgia will serve as a Circuit Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Britt Grant currently serves as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she served as the Solicitor General of Georgia and, before that, as counsel for legal policy to the Attorney General of Georgia. Earlier in her career, Justice Grant practiced in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis, where she focused on complex commercial litigation. Upon graduation from law school, Justice Grant served as a law clerk to Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She earned her J.D., with distinction, from Stanford Law School, where she served as managing editor of the Stanford Journal of International Law and as senior articles editor of the Stanford Law and Policy Review. Before enrolling in law school, Justice Grant served in The White House as Deputy Associate Director of the Office of Cabinet Affairs and earlier as Assistant to the Director in the Domestic Policy Council and USA Freedom Corps. She also served as Legislative Correspondent and Communications Director to Georgia Congressman Nathan Deal. Justice Grant earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Wake Forest University, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

3. Elections have consequences and his judicial nominations will last for decades after Trump.

There were many thousands of Republicans who did not like Trump but judicial nominations were important to them, particularly the Supreme Court, and they did not want Clinton to make them. And they clearly understood that the winner of the election was going to be either Trump or Clinton. Such a simple concept...it's too bad that more on the Left did not grasp it.

The Repugs did the same thing when Bill Clinton was president. They held open nearly 100 seats for the next president to fill. They knew the fix was in for Dubya. People who voted for Bush because they'd like to have a beer with him didn't know how much -- and how long -- they were fucking themselves and their children and grandchildren.

The Republicans have perfected the art of making people vote against their interests.

Remember, he quit Congress just before midnight the day before they were going to release an ethics report on him.

I will admit that Deal hasn't been a terrible governor, but I'm sure he has enriched himself and his friends and family in the process.

Washington (CNN) -- President Donald Trump, finding it harder than expected to get his legislative agenda accomplished on Capitol Hill, is looking to pack the courts with conservative jurists.

The latest step in the process came on Tuesday, when the White House unveiled its 12th wave of judicial nominees, US attorneys and US Marshals, a package of 30 people who will now face confirmation battles in the Senate.

Though Trump has scored some legislative victories, most notably tax reform last fall, his legislative agenda has been largely stymied by infighting within the Republican Party and largely uniform opposition by Democrats. In the face of those issues, Republicans on Capitol Hill have tried to usher as many of Trump's judicial picks through the confirmation process, hoping to fill the court system with Republicans whose legacy will survive long after the Trump presidency.

Tuesday's tranche of nominees includes Paul Matey, a New Jersey hospital executive, and David Porter, a shareholder at the Pittsburgh law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, for the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and Britt Grant, a justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, for a spot on the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
