Male Democratic senators are preparing to join female senators from both sides of the aisle in supporting legislation to overhaul workplace sexual harassment rules on Capitol Hill.
According to Politico, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) appealed to chamber leaders in a letter, encouraging floor debate on the issue.
The letter, written by male Democrats, is addressed to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and is co-signed by 31 male Democratic senators.
The letter is set to be released sometime Thursday, but a copy obtained by Politico says that if they dont act soon, Congress will lose all credibility in the eyes of the American public regarding our capacity to protect victims of sexual harassment or discrimination in any setting.....................

(28,799 posts)so they must have gotten over it. this though, this is such amazing bullshit. there never should have been a mechanism to get them off for their bad acts.
they always show up in suits and follow protocol and talk big. but behind the scenes they're scum, pure scum. and they hate women; walking talking anachronisms who want us back in the stone age. no thanks, i'm a woman and a human being.

(4,558 posts)Women Republicans need to wake up and realize that this is no longer the party of great women like Susan B Anthony, Lucy Stone, Elizabeth Stanton, or Ida Wells.
The Republican party has no interest in them except as objects. That party has no interest in their rights, their dignity, nor their equality.

Their minds are still stuck in the 60's. They're still in the Mad Men mindset. The behavior used to be an accepted part of the business and government world, but is no longer. I think a few bank-breaking settlements, paid directly from the accused himself, should educate them.

(32,645 posts)... and maybe "lobbyists" who are passing through. It's never with other Congress members, is my understanding. To the credit of the Republican women, they see this bill as a good thing to keep the GOP men in line. Or else get them out of office if they can't keep their pants zipped.
You'd think the evangelicals could get behind this issue. They still believe in family values, am I right?

(6,241 posts)than they care about actual family values and stopping men from the uninvited groping of women. They proved that with their support of Pussy Grabber.
And you're right. The congressional men aren't groping fellow congress critters. They are all about the power. They prey on people with less power than them. Sex is secondary to them.

(3,193 posts)I may disagree with them politically on a lot of things, but never have I heard my father or mother blame their personal failings on anyone or anything else. When they make a mistake, they own up to it and deal with it. Again, I disagree with their politics on nearly everything, but I acknowledge their personal integrity.
This may be a very unpopular sentiment, so flame away, but not all conservatives are reprehensible human beings.

(508 posts)Who the Hell think they have the right to insist republican'ts start being responsible for their own actions???
It ain't gonna happen. They can't be conservatives and be responsible for their own actions. That would be like having matter and anti-matter be the same thing. Nature won't allow it.

Bunch of men upset because they have to pay for their own sexual misconduct.
Who pays for my sexual misconduct? I do. Who pays for your sexual misconduct? You do. But somehow these guys think they are special, and the American taxpayer should pay for their sexual misconduct. What a scam.
