Pentagon denounces ‘swift-boating’-style attack on Obama
Source: Christian Science Monitor
The US military is pushing back against the campaign of a group of former Special Operations Forces officers who have spoken out against President Obama in what some have described as a latter-day Swift Boat campaign.
The group in question is the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc. (OPSEC is short for operational security). It has criticized the White House for what it says were dangerous leaks of the raid that killed terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.
As a citizen, it is my civic duty to tell the president to stop leaking information to the enemy, says Benjamin Smith, a Navy SEAL, in an Internet film the group has produced. It will get Americans killed.
Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, responded to the film, warning that using the uniform for partisan politics erodes the trust that people have in their military.

"The fall from grace began with Larry Bailey, a retired 27-year veteran of the Navy SEALs who founded the anti-Obama political group Special Operations Speaks. Bailey's military career placed him in a unique position to attack the president, but it didn't take him very long to get off message, as Foreign Policy's Josh Rogin found out. "I have to admit that I'm a Birther," Bailey told Rogin. "If there were a jury of 12 good men and women and the evidence were placed before them, there would be absolutely no question Barack Obama was not born where he said he was and is not who he says he is." In the interview, he also said Obama was a socialist who was raised by communists, which caught the attention of Obama campaign official Ben LaBolt who gleefully distributed the article to Washington reporters.
Then came former Navy SEAL Ben Smith, a spokesman for the OPSEC Education Fund, which has taken out ads and a 22-minute film to attack the president. Smith rather likes posting remarks on his Facebook page calling the president inflammatory nicknames like "Heir Communist-in-Chief Hussein Mao-bama." But it gets worse:.."

(4,835 posts)Aren't supposed to brag about security clearances; let alone create groups titled 'operational security'. The pentagon should have them arrested as traitors. This isn't about partisanship; it's a matter of national security.
Since they've blabbed about what they 'know' their families can be kidnapped and used to extort classified information from these morons.
2 options
1) Arrest them.
2) Exposé them as frauds.
They shouldn't be allowed to run around claiming that they have secret information. Security clearances aren't a right; they come with responsibility. These people should know that.

(582 posts)If the operation went sour, like when Carter attempted to rescue the embassy hostages, the Republicans would have drawn and quartered the President. Indeed, to order the mission was a political risk. Has anyone found out if Karl Rove is part of this Opsec Group? Ask him about CIA agents some time.
