White House Correspondents' Association: Michelle Wolf's routine 'not in the spirit' of our mission

Source: The Hill

White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) President Margaret Talev on Sunday lamented that comedian Michelle Wolf’s routine during the organization’s annual dinner on Saturday was “not in the spirit” of the organization's mission.

Talev said in a statement late Sunday that she has heard from members of the association that Wolf’s performance did not reflect well on the WHCA's efforts to celebrate journalism and the First Amendment.

“Last night’s program was meant to offer a unifying message about our common commitment to a vigorous and free press while honoring civility, great reporting and scholarship winners, not to divide people,” Talev said.

“Unfortunately, the entertainer’s monologue was not in the spirit of that mission."

Talev said she and Olivier Knox, who will take over as WHCA president this summer, are open to suggestions on how to adjust the event’s format moving forward.

It was accurate, considerate, and only mildly apologetic. This is diplomacy. More importantly, her routine got their attention that the press isn't a group to be pushed around. Remember, the news media are the constant punching bag by Sanders and Trump.

They got their shots in. Now they can play nice...for a while. Once the corporate bosses of media giants see their profits dry up, Trump will be old news.

If he doesn't blow up the world first.

What's not in the spirit of journalism standards is the daily ever bleating about Drumpf of the so-called press during the run-up to the 2016 election.

That is when journalism failed... utterly! You were making so much money covering Drumpf, that you totally forgot to fucking cover Drumpf and what he was really saying!

So screw you, Ms. Talev. We need more of people like Michelle Wolf, and fewer simpering idiots, like you.

This was the garbage our wonderful media pushed in the "spirit of a free press"

Media Freak Out At FBI Letter, Disregard Facts And Run With GOP's False Description Of Clinton Email Review"

https://mediamatters.org/blog/2016/10/28/media-freak-out-fbi-letter-disregard-facts-and-run-gops-false-description-clinton-email-review/214184

At least Chuck Todd was honest about the "spirit of a free press" when he said:

It's Not Media's Job To Correct GOP's Obamacare Falsehoods ", that statement itself spoke volumes about the sad state of journalism in this country.

The WH correspondence dinner should all be hanging their heads in shame for how they covered 2016.

They want a comic to apologize for speaking the truth, but not ONCE have they asked the asshole in the WH to apologize for his continued lies, or constant racist, sexist, and bigoted remarks.

The media is a disgrace with a double standard for quite some time now

For years this dinner has been effectively a "Roast" of Washington, from Congress to the Media to the President. This statement that the WHCA President is making is absurd doublespeak.

Just because Republicans don't know how to take a joke (or have any sense of humor), does not mean comedians should apologize for engaging in satire. That is the whole point. It is about Freedom of Speech.

Right Wingers go on about "Liberal Snowflakes", but they get all butt hurt over a few jokes. They are the fragile snowflakes.

The WHCA must have reviewed her previous shows before hiring her and read the reviews, so her act couldn't have come as a surprise.

In contrast, look at the past performances of all the men who played the WHCA dinners yet all they got was a couple of facepalms to hide the critics laughter and some tsk-tsking from the starched church ladies. Yet when a brilliant, cocky woman unleashes her ripping, point on jokes that took down the lying Trump administration and their enablers in the media, she gets a public flogging!

Double standard there, madame president.

to the people in the media who have supported this administration by propagating their lies unchecked and for bowing to their authoritarianism.

The Trump admin is actively trying to tear down the free press and they are apologizing for a comedian calling a spade a spade.

Here's my suggestion... just have a ceremony where the head of the WHCA plants a big fat smooch on the right hind cheek of the President. Just get up there on that stage, get down on all fours and kiss his ass. They already are metaphorically, they might as well be fucking honest about it.

I think Michelle Wolf was right on target.

That said... you know what kind of interesting thing happened? Watch the video if you haven't already when she's talking about Sanders. Sanders, from the first words, was ready to cry. Have you ever been curious how she feels spewing lie after lie after lie? She took her lumps, it hit home every single time, she's doing it for some reason.. but she knows she's doing evil. That's interesting.

Should Wolf have gone easy on her? hell no.

The WHCA proves out to be cowards and shows every word Wolf said to be right on the mark. Cowards, supporting a tyrant that they created and have yet to take responsibility for.

I think we are talking about two different things here. The mission might be one thing, and the comedian has their job to do. She did it. Damn, she used the word "fuck" a couple times, and made some reference to her vagina...hmmm. Not my pick of subjects nor probably recommended language, but we haven't heard that before? Oh please.

Michelle did fine. She'll continue to do fine. Too bad the mango-Mussolini wasn't there to get spit in his eye. Instead he sends his dog, SHS and the rest of his Sunday liars to take the heat. He's too big of a coward to do it himself...EVER. Instead, he goes to his idiot fan base for an ego-boost, and spews shit ten times worse...and NOT in humor.

What about that water in Flint? Oh....haven't heard anyone talking about that today....just some bad words and jokes that hurt the feelings of the guilty cabal.

They were called out in person by a brave woman who spoke truth to power. The White House correspondents bury truth for access and cushy jobs.

Hundreds of thousands of people in the US have had their lives destroyed by the illegal Trump regime. Meanwhile the White House correspondents are being the stenographers of fascism and corruption. The destruction of the ACA is already killing people who are loosing their insurance coverage, immigrants are being forced to go back to countries where they will be killed, DACA recipients have their lives upended, Flint is still without clean water, but the WHCA are upset about Sarah Huckabee Sanders being called out for her lies.
