Liege shooting: Two police and passer-by dead in Belgium
9 minutes ago
A man has shot dead two police officers and a passer-by in the centre of the eastern Belgian city of Liège before being killed himself. Police told the BBC the attacker had been "neutralised" and that the situation was now under control. Two other police officers were injured and the man also took a woman hostage, according to reports in Belgian media.
Details are still emerging and there is no indication yet as to the man's motive. "We don't know anything yet," a spokesperson for the Liege prosecutor's office told the AFP news agency.

Police sources quoted in local media said the man was heard shouting Allahu Akbar ("God is greatest" in Arabic).

(11,841 posts)Where you been? Very common.
Never heard of a robbery suspect hollering it. Or a domestic dispute. Or pretty much any other type of crime.

(11,841 posts)There IS an indication as to the mans motive by what he's hollering as he's killing people. SOP for Islamists.
Is it possible that he could've just been yelling it for no apparent reason? Sure. But HIGHLY unlikely.

Originally, early post, gave no possible motive, or words he used, and authorities said they didn't have any.
Facts do help.

As well as being both a delicious and nutritious red-meat for a particularly consistent narrative, regardless of how "tiny" one may allege it to be.
