Billionaire Koch brothers' network launches digital ad blitz supporting Democrat Heidi Heitkamp as midterms near
Americans for Prosperity is unleashing a digital advertising campaign on Friday thanking North Dakota Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp for co-sponsoring the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protect Act.
The move to support Heitkamp comes only two months after the Koch network launched a six-figure ad buy attacking her for voting against the Republican tax reform bill.
Heitkamp is trying to protect her seat against her rival, Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer.

North Dakota Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp will be going into the congressional midterm elections knowing that she's received support for at least one piece of legislation by the unlikeliest of groups: the Koch political network.
Americans for Prosperity, an arm of the influential network supported by conservative billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch, is unleashing a digital advertising campaign on Friday thanking Heitkamp for cosponsoring the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protect Act, a bill that rolls back Dodd Frank regulations mainly on community banks, or those with less than $100 billion in assets. It recently passed in Congress with bipartisan support.
"Congress achieved a significant milestone in lifting some of the toughest restrictions Dodd-Frank placed on small banks and their consumers. This was a bipartisan effort made possible by lawmakers like Heidi Heitkamp who put politics aside to work together," Tim Phillips, president for Americans for Prosperity, said in a statement.
"While we don't agree with Sen. Heitkamp on everything, particularly her vote against tax relief, we commend her for taking a stand against the leaders of her party to do the right thing. We hope to find common ground and work with Sen. Heitkamp on other issues moving forward including making tax relief permanent," he added.

(34,661 posts)at this time in Nodak. When the Dems regain the Senate, this will move Heitkamp up on key committees. The GOP Senate Candidate is Right Wing Religious Nut Job who spews White Nationalist crap . And if you know anything about North Dakota, well, those folks do not want to relive the 1940's all over again.

(252 posts)and I disagree with your assumption the people here dont want to go back to the 1940's..they never left...this state voted overwhelmingly for that orange pervert...We native people call north and south Dakota the Mississippi and alabama of the north.

(34,661 posts)And yes outside of Fargo, the rest of the State is a true mess. Sure changed since the days of Clinton Burdick hasn't it. Has Mandan and Bismark gone over the edge also?

(252 posts)just ask the water Protectors...Mike Seminary, Bismarck Mayor had his heart in the right place and asked the native people to come to bisman and boom! he immediately got a challenger in some scott henan or something like that...this heenan or whatever had a talk-show on the local hate radio station kfyr and did his best to whip up hate against the water protectors specifically and against the native people in general...

(34,661 posts)So now there is trust between the Native Community and the Power Structure. Plain Sicko. This is not going to end well. Times have changed, used to call on Mandan and Bismark . Always found Business People to be civil and straight shooters. Sad to hear the area went total backassward. Senator Conrade once mentioned something to that affect.
Same crap happened in South Dakota.

(252 posts)and ND's native people voted for her by over 4000 votes...but not this time...she betrayed us by choosing big oil and $$$ over our wish to preserve clean air and water for our children and grandchildren...we are writing-in either Conrad or Dorgan...with her opponent cramer, we know where he stands. he at least tells us to our face whereas hh smiled in our faces then stabbed us in the back...and if anyone wants to say we need to vote blue and take back congress or the struggle continues, we native people are used to fighting...this is nothing new...bring it on.

One thing I've come to admire about Claire McCaskill she's willing to take politically risky stands, even during a tight re-election campaign, such as her vote against Gina Haspel.
